What should women do if their breasts swell while breastfeeding?

Women will naturally secrete milk after giving birth. At this time, the breasts are in a state of stress and excitement. The secretion of milk will cause the breasts to become swollen, but generally there will be no feeling if there is no lesion. However, in modern society, many women experience breast pain during breastfeeding. So, what should you do if your breasts hurt during breastfeeding?

1. If the breast pain is paroxysmal, and often begins before menstruation or worsens before menstruation, and can be relieved or disappeared after menstruation, and the pain is distending or stabbing, and sometimes involves the armpit or shoulder and back on the same side, and there is mild to moderate tenderness locally, then it is considered to be a proliferative lesion.

2. If the nipples are severely painful during breastfeeding, or if they are broken or cracked, it may be nipple fissures caused by the baby sucking and biting the nipples. If the breast pain is only mild, dull pain, and there is no obvious regularity in the onset, and it is only occasional or paroxysmal, and some are continuous, it is often ignored because the pain is not obvious. It should be noted that such breast pain may also be a signal of early malignant breast disease, and should be given enough attention, and anti-inflammatory drugs should be used in time to avoid breast inflammation.

3. If there is no obvious pain in the breast, but only pain in one armpit or shoulder and back, there is also the possibility of malignant lesions. These subtle changes should not be easily ignored. If there is severe, persistent, burning pain in the breast, which is progressively aggravated and difficult to relieve on its own, and accompanied by local ulceration and necrosis of the mass or ulceration of the surgical wound and surrounding skin, it is breast pain in the late stage of malignant lesions. At this time, because the symptoms and signs of other malignant lesions are very clear, it is not difficult to find the cause of the pain.

4. When you experience breast pain, don't panic, but also don't be careless and think that breast pain is not a big deal and it will go away if you bear it. Some women are shy and find breast pain difficult to talk about and are embarrassed to see a doctor, etc. These are all incorrect perceptions. You should pay attention to changes in the breasts, even if it is very mild breast pain, because breast pain may be a symptom of many breast diseases or even a sign of breast malignancy.
