What should I pay attention to during the recovery period after uterine fibroid surgery?

If patients with uterine fibroids undergo surgical treatment, then some rehabilitation care issues after the operation should be paid attention to in order to speed up recovery. First of all, a reasonable diet should be used to supplement sufficient nutrition. Also, do not always stay in bed after the operation, and turn over appropriately to avoid intestinal adhesion.

1. Nutritional supplement: Patients should be given appropriate nutritional supplements. The nutritional intake of patients after surgery is different from that before surgery. They should drink more water to make up for the loss of body fluids during surgery. Eat high-protein foods to speed up wound healing, and avoid irritating foods and gas-producing foods.

2. Reasonable rest: After surgery for uterine fibroids, women should rest in bed more often. What they need to pay attention to is to turn over more often to prevent intestinal adhesion. You can get up and have bowel movements 3 days after the operation. After one week, you can do some proper indoor activities. You can resume normal rest in the second week after the operation. Eight weeks after uterine fibroid surgery, you can gradually increase the amount of exercise according to your personal physical strength and constitution. This can reduce future discomfort caused by temporary reduction in pelvic support.

3. Treatment of vaginal bleeding: Vaginal bleeding needs to be treated after the operation. During the operation, in order to clearly examine the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the dorsal side of the uterus or to provide sufficient space for the operation, a uterine support device is usually placed in the vagina (not used for unmarried women). Therefore, there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding after the operation. This is normal. If the vaginal bleeding lasts for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor to see if there is any abnormality.

4. Wound treatment: The wound after surgery is usually about one centimeter at the navel. It is important to keep the area clean. You can take a shower or get wet only after the wound has healed completely in about ten days.
