How to arrange diet after caesarean section

How to arrange diet after caesarean section

After a caesarean section, women's body also enters an important stage of recovery. Therefore, of course they must pay attention to a reasonable and healthy diet. They should be careful to avoid eating cold and raw foods, spicy and irritating foods, and hard and difficult to digest foods.

1. Avoid eating cold and raw foods

Raw and cold foods and cool foods are not conducive to the replenishment of Qi and blood. They not only damage the spleen and stomach and affect digestion and absorption, but also cause lochia and blood stasis to accumulate in the body, making them difficult to clear. Therefore, postpartum mothers should eat more warm foods to nourish and regulate the body so that the qi and blood can flow smoothly.

2. Avoid eating hard, indigestible foods

The digestion of hard, greasy and fried foods requires strong gastrointestinal function, but mothers lack sufficient exercise after giving birth, their intestinal motility is slow, and the gastrointestinal digestive function is greatly reduced. These hard and difficult to digest foods will become a digestive burden for mothers, causing constipation, indigestion and other consequences.

3. Avoid eating spicy food

Spicy food has a strong taste and is very irritating. After consumption, mothers will become weak due to excessive heat and sweating, which will lead to loss of qi and blood. It will also damage the lungs and cause fever symptoms. It is not conducive to digestion and defecation, and also affects the secretion of high-quality milk, which will affect the healthy growth of the baby to a certain extent.

4. Avoid eating or drinking cold drinks

Iced drinks or foods are highly irritating, which can harm your stomach and intestines as well as your teeth. They can also cause cold air to enter your body that is difficult to expel.

5. Try to control salt intake

Postpartum mothers should not consume too much or too little salt. Pickled foods can easily cause excessive salt intake and imbalance, so try to eat less to avoid postpartum edema.

6. Avoid overeating

Due to wounds after childbirth, gastrointestinal motility is slower, so it is not advisable to eat too much to prevent bloating and indigestion.

7. Avoid eating out-of-season fruits and vegetables

Compared with seasonal fruits, off-season fruits have poorer taste and nutritional content. In addition, these fruits may contain ripening agents, which will reduce the quality of milk and affect the healthy development of the baby.
