What is a chocolate ovarian cyst? Take you to understand authoritative knowledge

Many people may be unfamiliar with the disease of chocolate ovarian cyst. In fact, it is a kind of endometriosis, which is also a common gynecological disease in women. Some people call it chocolate cyst. The following will let you learn about the relevant knowledge of this disease.

1. What is chocolate ovarian cyst

Ovarian chocolate cysts are a type of endometriosis lesion. Under normal circumstances, the endometrium grows in the uterine cavity and is affected by female hormones in the body, shed once a month, forming menstruation. If the endometrial fragments shed during menstruation flow back through the fallopian tubes into the pelvic cavity with menstrual blood and implant on the surface of the ovaries or other parts of the pelvic cavity, ectopic cysts will be formed. This ectopic endometrium is also affected by sex hormones and sheds and bleeds repeatedly with the menstrual cycle. If the lesions occur on the ovaries, there will be local bleeding during each menstrual period, which will enlarge the ovaries and form cysts containing old blood. This old blood is brown and sticky like a paste, similar to chocolate, so it is also called "chocolate cyst". The cyst may gradually increase in size and sometimes rupture during or after menstruation, but rarely becomes malignant.

2. Causes

1. Endocrine factors: This factor is a common cause of ovarian cysts. Although the ovaries are small, they are important organs for producing eggs and ovulating, secreting endocrine hormones, and balancing endocrine system. They often occur during the reproductive age when the endocrine system is active. Therefore, it is believed to be related to endocrine disorders. In addition, if you get angry during your menstrual period, your menstrual period will be interrupted, which will cause the waste to be unable to be discharged and form cysts in the ovaries.

2. Childbirth, multiple miscarriages, etc.: Chocolate cysts are mainly caused by the fact that the endometrial fragments shed from the uterine wall during menstruation cannot be completely discharged from the vagina due to poor drainage, and a small amount of them flow back into the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tubes. Anything that can affect the flow of menstrual blood from the vagina, including vaginal occlusion, narrow cervix, retroverted uterus, cervical adhesions after multiple abortions, sexual intercourse during menstruation, etc., can promote the occurrence of chocolate cysts.

3. Fallopian tube obstruction: Every month, the unfertilized follicles in the ovaries become waste and need to be excreted. The body's hydraulic pressure is required to squeeze these wastes out. However, due to functional impairment and blockage of the fallopian tubes, the waste cannot be discharged. The eggs that cannot be discharged accumulate in the ovaries, forming chocolate cysts.

4. Frequent sexual life: Frequent sexual life is also an important cause of ovarian chocolate cysts. It usually occurs in adolescent girls or menopausal women, which has a lot to do with their frequent sexual life.

3. Early symptoms

1: Abnormal menstrual pain: Dysmenorrhea is the most obvious symptom of endometriosis, but it is the most easily overlooked precursor.

2: Sexual change pain: This is also an obvious signal, which may be accompanied by punctate bleeding. The symptoms of ovarian chocolate cyst are not very obvious.

3: You can’t get pregnant without contraception: Among infertile women, endometriosis accounts for a high proportion of infertility.
