The chocolate cyst ruptured, I didn’t expect it to be so serious!

Chocolate cysts mainly appear in women's ovaries. If the cysts are not treated in time and rupture, it will cause many harms to women, such as infertility, irregular menstruation and even diffuse peritonitis and other diseases.

1. Cause infertility

Chocolate cysts can cause mechanical blockage of the fallopian tubes, affect the ovulation function of the ovaries, and affect the patient's nutrition. If bilateral ovarian cancer destroys most of the ovarian tissue, the incidence of infertility is high. Therefore, ovarian chocolate cysts can cause blockage of the fallopian tubes, leading to infertility.

2. Cause diffuse peritonitis

After the cyst ruptures, small ruptures can heal quickly on their own and form adhesions with surrounding tissues; if the rupture is large, it cannot heal on its own, and its thick chocolate-like cystic fluid can flow into the abdominal cavity. This chocolate-like fluid is extremely irritating and can stimulate the surrounding peritoneum, causing severe abdominal pain. If not treated in time, it may also lead to diffuse peritonitis. The harm of ovarian chocolate cysts can have fatal consequences.

3. Irregular menstruation, abdominal pain, and pain during sexual intercourse

Chocolate cysts can cause the cyst to rupture. After the cyst ruptures, the blood will flow into the pelvic cavity, irritate the peritoneum, cause severe abdominal pain, and may cause adhesions of the pelvic organs. Ovarian chocolate cysts can rupture spontaneously without any cause. Rough or intense sexual intercourse, especially premenstrual sexual intercourse, is often a common and important cause of cyst rupture.

4. Cause adhesion of pelvic organs

After a period of time, when the blood accumulation and pressure in the chocolate cyst increase again, spontaneous rupture may occur. After the cyst ruptures, the accumulated blood flowing into the pelvic cavity irritates the peritoneum, causing severe abdominal pain and may cause adhesions of the pelvic organs.
