What are the symptoms of endometritis?

Endometrial inflammation can cause many uncomfortable symptoms in women, such as fever, lower abdominal pain or increased vaginal discharge, and may also cause prolonged menstruation. If the inflammation spreads, it may also cause gynecological inflammations such as pelvic inflammatory disease.

1. Symptoms of endometritis: mild fever, lower abdominal pain, increased leucorrhea, etc. Leucorrhea is sometimes bloody, and if it is caused by anaerobic bacteria, the discharge will be foul-smelling. Some people have irregular menstruation. If the inflammation is severe, it may spread to the myometrium. It becomes myometritis and many small abscesses form inside it. If the inflammation spreads outward, it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease. During examination, the uterus may be tender and enlarged, and the tissues on both sides may be tender and thickened. The main symptoms of acute endometritis are fever, lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, sometimes bloody or foul-smelling, and sometimes a slightly enlarged uterus and tenderness. The symptoms of chronic cases are basically the same, and may also include menorrhagia, lower abdominal pain, and obvious swelling in the lumbar area.

2. Chronic endometritis often presents with menstrual changes such as heavy menstrual flow, irregular cycles, prolonged menstrual bleeding or continuous spotting, accompanied by symptoms such as lower abdominal distension and pain, back pain and fatigue, and increased leucorrhea. The leucorrhea is yellow, thin and sometimes bloody. Dysmenorrhea and fever are rare. Gynecological examination often reveals a slightly enlarged uterus with mild tenderness.

3. In addition to the rational use of antibiotics in the treatment of endometritis, the residual placental tissue and endometrial polyps in the uterine cavity should also be removed. If there are submucosal uterine fibroids or endometrial cancer, appropriate treatment should be given according to the situation.

4. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene and strictly prohibit sexual intercourse during menstruation to prevent pathogenic bacteria from invading. Secondly, pay attention to contraception and avoid unnecessary abortion. Delivery and intrauterine surgery should be performed in a regular hospital with strict disinfection procedures to prevent direct contamination during the operation. Women at risk of infection should receive preventive anti-inflammatory treatment.
