What to do if you have congenital vaginal obstruction

Some diseases occur from the moment we are born, and these are called congenital diseases. Congenital vaginal obstruction is one of them. It is generally difficult to find. Many people only discover this after they get married and have sex. This congenital defect can actually be cured through later treatment, so some female compatriots will become depressed after knowing that they have this disease, but there is actually no need to be depressed. Medical conditions are now very developed and treatments are quite mature.

The principle of treatment for congenital absence of vagina is to reconstruct the vagina. There are many methods for artificial vaginoplasty, including non-surgical treatment, which uses top pressure to gradually push the closed vestibule mucosa in the normal vaginal position toward the head end along the vaginal axis to form an artificial cavity. This method requires a long treatment time and the artificial vagina formed is short. If the tissue elasticity is poor, it will be difficult to succeed. It is now basically abandoned and rarely used.

Surgical treatment mainly involves separating the urethra, bladder and rectum to form an artificial cavity, using different methods to find an appropriate cavity wound covering and reconstructing the vagina. In previous years, the most commonly used method was the transplantation of the patient's own medium-thickness free skin graft. However, after the operation, a hard vaginal mold needs to be used for a long time to expand the artificial vagina to prevent the artificial cavity covered by the transplanted skin graft from contracting, which increases the patient's pain and brings great inconvenience to work and life. Moreover, the biggest disadvantage is that the characteristics of skin and mucous membrane tissues are too different and do not meet physiological requirements. Vaginoplasty using labia skin flaps destroys the normal vulva morphology and is often rejected by patients. Reconstruction using sigmoid colon or ileum segments increases the complexity of the surgery. The use of amniotic membrane or pelvic peritoneum for coverage also has its own disadvantages. Therefore, although there are many methods, there is still no ideal shaping surgery. The decision should be made mainly based on the patient's local vulvar anatomy and other specific clinical conditions.

Of course, this treatment method is not suitable for all patients with congenital vaginal obstruction. If you want to know which treatment methods are suitable for you or which treatment is better for your body, it is best to go to a professional hospital for help from a doctor. The doctor will give different treatment advice based on the different conditions of each patient, which can help us get better treatment.
