Is cesarean section dangerous? Mothers must know

In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, many pregnant women have become overweight, which makes natural childbirth very difficult. Therefore, many women choose to give birth by caesarean section. But is a caesarean section dangerous? Most expectant mothers don't know much about this. In fact, cesarean section is risky for both the mother and the baby, so mothers must be cautious when choosing this method of delivery.

1. The main risks of caesarean section

1. Maternal

The possibility of postoperative complications is 10 to 40 times greater than that of natural delivery;

The amount of bleeding is several times that of natural childbirth;

There are risks of anesthesia and organ damage during surgery;

Surgery causes extensive trauma and results in longer pain and recovery time.

2. For babies

Susceptibility to cesarean section syndrome, i.e. acute respiratory distress;

The incidence of jaundice is higher than that of natural delivery;

They are prone to sensory integration disorder, which is a poor coordination of the brain that affects children's attention, verbal expression and interpersonal communication, hindering their healthy growth.

3. Reminder: Don’t blindly choose cesarean section

A cesarean section is not the best option for childbirth, either for the baby or the mother. Unless you have to, do not choose a cesarean section blindly, especially not just because you are afraid of pain, to prevent vaginal relaxation, or even simply to choose an "auspicious day".

Second, the advantages of cesarean section:

(1) When vaginal delivery is absolutely impossible for some reason, a caesarean section can save the lives of mother and child.

(2) The indications for cesarean section are clear, and anesthesia and surgery are generally smooth.

(3) If an elective cesarean section is performed before uterine contractions begin, the mother can be spared the pain of labor.

(4) If there are other diseases in the abdominal cavity, they can also be treated together. For example, combined with ovarian tumors or subserosal uterine fibroids, they can be removed at the same time.

(5) It is also very convenient to perform ligation surgery.

(6) In cases where it is not appropriate to retain the uterus, such as severe infection, incomplete uterine rupture, multiple uterine fibroids, etc., the uterus can also be removed at the same time.

(7) Due to the improvement in the safety of cesarean section in recent years, many pregnancy complications and pregnancy termination have been treated by clinicians, which has reduced the impact of complications on mother and child.
