Can I eat hot pot after a caesarean section?

Because more and more pregnant women choose cesarean section as their preferred method of delivery, the issues of post-cesarean section care and diet have received widespread attention from pregnant women. So what are the dietary taboos after cesarean section? Can pregnant women eat hot pot after a caesarean section? Let’s find out.

1. Some people say that the key to eating hot pot is the word "spicy". It is so spicy that you sweat all over. Indeed, appropriate spicy taste can help dispel cold and keep warm, but as with everything, “too much is as bad as too little”. Once it exceeds the range that the human body can bear, good things will become bad. Clinical studies have long shown that many gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, peptic ulcer, and the onset of hemorrhoids are directly or indirectly related to eating too spicy food.

2. Pregnant women should not eat hot pot often, because the ingredients of hot pot are mostly mutton, beef, pork and even dog meat, which may contain Toxoplasma larvae. These Toxoplasma larvae are extremely small and live in cells. When people eat hot pot, they are accustomed to putting fresh and tender meat slices into the boiling hot pot and eating them immediately. This brief heating generally cannot kill the larvae. After eating, the larvae pass through the intestinal folds in the intestine and spread throughout the body with the blood. Pregnant women usually do not feel obvious discomfort when infected, but the larvae can infect the fetus through the placenta, causing severe deformities such as microcephaly, macrocephaly (hydrocephalus), and anencephaly.

3. Pregnant women will be very weak after a caesarean section. If they eat too much hot pot, it is easy to cause getting angry, dry mouth, night sweats, fatigue and other symptoms, and it also stimulates the digestive and reproductive systems. More importantly, harmful ingredients may affect the baby's health through breast milk, causing the child to get "inflamed". Normally, pregnant women can eat hot pot 2-3 months after caesarean section. It is advisable to eat light, warming and vegetable foods. It is best not to eat high-fat, seafood, spicy hot pot and other types of hot pot.
