Confinement is a very important moment in a woman's life. If you do it well, your body will be better in the future. If you get sick during the confinement period, it will affect your daily life. Women should prevent the occurrence of confinement diseases, maintain a good mood during the confinement period, pay attention to diet and nutrition, and avoid catching cold. 1. Causes of postpartum disease One is loss of body fluid and blood. Due to the force of childbirth, sweating, birth injuries or excessive blood loss, the yin blood becomes suddenly deficient. In addition, if the postpartum care is not careful, it leads to loss of body fluid and blood, and the yang qi dissipates. The second is internal obstruction of blood stasis, deficiency of vital energy after childbirth, weak qi and blood, stagnation of qi and blood deficiency; or emptiness of all meridians after childbirth, susceptibility to external evil, cold evil taking advantage of the weakness to enter the body, blood coagulation due to cold, resulting in poor flow of lochia, retention and formation of blood stasis; or due to qi stagnation and blood stasis before childbirth, resulting in internal obstruction of blood stasis; or due to blood stasis caused by residual turbid blood after childbirth, or residual placenta or infection with evil toxins, all of which can lead to internal obstruction of blood stasis and septicemia. The third is injury caused by the six external evils or by diet, sexual intercourse, which damages both Qi and blood, impairs the vital energy, and weakens the righteous energy, the so-called "empty meridians after childbirth". Due to physical weakness, the slightest touch, or improper conditioning during and after delivery, may lead to organ dysfunction and various diseases. In short, postpartum diseases are mainly characterized by "deficiency" and "stasis", so there is a saying that "postpartum diseases are mostly caused by deficiency and stasis". 2. Symptoms of postpartum disease During the confinement period, women's muscles, bones and pores are wide open, their qi and blood are weak, and they are empty inside and out. They are easily invaded by wind, cold and dampness. The clinical symptoms of this confinement disease are: numbness of limbs, difficulty in flexion and extension, headache, dizziness, swelling, stiffness, poor appetite, little and difficult urination, fear of cold and wind all over the body, sweating, pain when moving joints, and aggravated pain when exposed to cold and wind. They need to wear more clothes. Severe patients need to wear cotton clothes in hot summer. According to Chinese medicine theory, this is "cold evil entering the bones." One reason why it is difficult to treat is that women have a natural recovery period of 100 days during the confinement period, and their muscles, bones and pores are closed, which can trap rheumatism and cold evil into the body and prevent them from being expelled. The pathogenic factors stay in the body for a long time, damaging the skin, muscles and bones, and leading to serious muscle and bone diseases. 3. Preventive measures for postpartum disease According to the causes of most postpartum patients, the following precautions are summarized: 1. Pregnant women are prohibited from having sexual intercourse within one month after giving birth, otherwise it may endanger their lives. To be on the safe side, you can only do it after 100 days. 2. Maintain a good mood, don’t be angry or irritable, be open-minded, and think less. 3. Pregnant women should not engage in excessive activity during the confinement period, nor should they stand or sit for long periods of time, so as to avoid overwork and the leaving of illness. 4. Pregnant women should be moderate in their diet during the confinement period, not overeating or starving, and not eating raw, cold, or spicy food. They should not eat too much food other than grains at one time, and should not go on a diet for fear of obesity. 5. Pregnant women should not wear slippers, short-sleeved clothes or short skirts during the confinement period. They should wear a hat when going out in spring, autumn and winter. After sweating, they must wait indoors to dry before going out. They should not use cold water to wash their face, hands, feet or take a bath (including in summer). |
