What causes lower abdominal pain during pregnancy? Expectant mothers need to understand

After a woman becomes pregnant, she will experience a series of pregnancy reactions, the most common of which is nausea and vomiting. In addition, a small number of pregnant women will experience lower abdominal pain. There are many reasons for lower abdominal pain, which may be caused by gynecological diseases and may not be directly related to pregnancy.

1. Abdominal pain as an early pregnancy reaction: In the early stages of pregnancy, there may be some abdominal pain and discomfort that is not very severe, but does not last long and is often accompanied by vomiting. This is a manifestation of early pregnancy reaction. Pain in the upper abdomen is mostly caused by the physiological increase in gastric acid secretion in early pregnancy; occasional cramps in the lower abdomen are related to the enlarged uterus pulling upward on the ligaments that support the uterus. These pains and discomforts will naturally disappear as the early stages of pregnancy pass.

2. Uterine fibroids: Uterine fibroids may grow during pregnancy. The impacts on pregnancy include fibroid degeneration and necrosis, fibroid torsion, and direct interference with fetal development or obstruction of delivery. This pain usually comes suddenly, and the pain point is fixed, which is local pain.

3. Ectopic pregnancy: The embryo implants and develops outside the uterus, such as in the fallopian tube, ovary, abdominal cavity, etc. Symptoms of ectopic pregnancy in early pregnancy: amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding. If the gestational sac in the uterus cannot be seen through abdominal or vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks of pregnancy, and human chorionic gonadotropin is excessive in the blood, or even internal bleeding occurs, it can be diagnosed as an ectopic pregnancy.

4. Ovarian tumors: During pregnancy, complications caused by ovarian tumors include tumor torsion and tumor rupture. Most ovarian tumors in early pregnancy are benign, but malignant tumors also exist. Therefore, if an ovarian tumor is found during pregnancy, if colic, abdominal discomfort, abnormal abdominal distension, ascites, etc. occur, you must seek medical attention as soon as possible.

5. Miscarriage: If you find lower abdominal pain and bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy, you must be vigilant. The main symptoms of threatened abortion may include the above symptoms.
