What should I do if the fetus is in an abnormal position at eight months of pregnancy?

Women often have a very hard time during pregnancy, but some adverse phenomena are very likely to occur in the late pregnancy, especially malposition of the fetus. Some fetuses come out buttocks first, some arms first, and some feet first, which can easily cause fetal suffocation. So what should we do?

1. Correction of knee-chest position exercise

Pregnant women should empty their bladder, loosen their belt, lie on a hard bed, support themselves with their knees on the bed, hips raised high, thighs perpendicular to the bed, and chest as close to the bed as possible. Do it once in the morning and once in the evening every day, each time for 15 minutes, for 1 week, and then go to the hospital for a follow-up check.

2. Doctors perform rotation for pregnant women

If the fetus has not turned at 32 to 34 weeks of pregnancy, the doctor will consider performing an artificial external rotation of the fetus to turn the fetus over so that the pregnant woman can give birth smoothly. When performing an artificial external rotation of the fetus, drugs to relax the uterus are usually given. When performed by experienced doctors, the success rate is about 60%. However, if the pregnant woman has had a previous caesarean section, it is not recommended to perform an external rotation of the fetus. In addition, the amount of amniotic fluid must be moderate, the fetus's back must be on both sides, the mother's weight must be moderate, and the fetus's buttocks must not enter the deep pelvis. External fetal rotation has certain risks. During operation, it may cause umbilical cord entanglement or placental abruption.

3. Acupuncture treatment

Use acupuncture at the Zhiyin point to treat malposition of the fetus once a day, each time for 15 to 20 minutes, and 5 times as a course of treatment. It is suitable for pregnant women diagnosed with breech presentation, transverse presentation, and oblique presentation during gynecological examination.

4. Get a prenatal check-up. Diagnose malposition of the fetus in advance and receive timely treatment. If it has not turned into a head position, the baby will need to be hospitalized 1 to 2 weeks before the due date of delivery. The doctor will decide the mode of delivery based on the specific situation of the pregnant mother.
