How to prepare for pregnancy if the progesterone concentration is not enough, and what should you pay attention to in your daily life

Progesterone is a gestational hormone and the most important gestational hormone known so far. In non-pregnant women, progesterone is secreted in large quantities by the corpus luteum of the ovary only in the second half of each menstrual cycle. It is also secreted by the brain, liver, and adrenal glands. During pregnancy, the placenta can also secrete large amounts. If the concentration is not enough, it will be difficult to conceive, and it is best to seek help from a doctor.

Progesterone is a hormone specific to women, secreted by the ovaries. The basic concept is that when the ovary ovulates in the middle of the menstrual cycle, the follicle that releases the egg will form a corpus luteum, which will secrete progesterone. The progesterone will cause the endometrium to enter the secretory phase and maintain its thickness until the menstrual period comes, when the corpus luteum atrophies and the progesterone concentration in the blood drops sharply, causing the endometrium to shed and form menstruation. Progesterone is of great significance to female pregnancy and affects menstruation by affecting the stimulation of estrogen on the endometrium. In the later stages of menstruation, progesterone promotes the growth of glands in the uterine mucosa and the thickening of the endometrium to prepare for the implantation of the fertilized egg. If the progesterone level is low, menstruation will be delayed.

Most of the progesterone used to regulate menstruation is artificially synthesized, which can simulate the effects of progesterone in the body, but has no contraceptive effect. Therefore, a more correct statement should be that insufficient progesterone will not affect fertilization between sperm and egg, but it may affect implantation and even cause early miscarriage.

Many women usually don’t pay enough attention to their health until they are about to have a baby. They discover this problem and ask everywhere how to prepare for pregnancy if the progesterone concentration is not enough?
