How to check luteal insufficiency? Believe in the power of science

The prominent manifestations of luteal insufficiency are: shortened menstrual cycle, frequent menstruation, infertility, miscarriage, etc. It is relatively difficult for women who have not yet conceived to conceive, and it is easy for women who have already conceived to miscarry. Therefore, women's health check-ups must be done well.

Performance

Luteal insufficiency is manifested by a short menstrual cycle (less than 21 days), heavy bleeding before menstruation or a prolonged menstrual period, continuous secretion of brown discharge, infertility or habitual miscarriage, etc.

examine

1. Progesterone test

Measure blood progesterone on the 18th to 28th day of menstruation. If its content is lower than normal, it indicates luteal insufficiency.

2. Ultrasound detection of ovulation

The time from ovulation to menstruation should be about 14 days. If it is less than 12 days, it is luteal insufficiency.

3. Measure your basal body temperature

It is the simplest method, but also the least accurate method. Take your temperature every morning, record it, and make a temperature sheet.

4. Diagnostic curettage

It is performed on the 26th day of the menstrual cycle, and the endometrium is taken for histological examination. If the endometrium is poorly secreted or lags behind the endometrium by two days on the curettage day, luteal insufficiency is considered.

diagnosis

The simplest and most effective method to check luteal insufficiency is to measure basal body temperature. The luteal function can be inferred from the length of the luteal phase, the extent of the temperature rise and the time of the temperature drop. The luteal phase is calculated from the first day when the body temperature rises after the temperature drops during ovulation. The normal luteal phase lasts 12-16 days. If the luteal phase is less than 12 days, it is a manifestation of luteal insufficiency. In addition, if the body temperature rises during the luteal phase, but the increase is only 0.3 degrees Celsius, or the body temperature rises slowly, drops early, or the body temperature fluctuates greatly during the luteal phase, these are all manifestations of luteal insufficiency. Another method to diagnose luteal insufficiency is to examine the myometrium within 12 hours of menstruation. If pathological examination shows poor secretion, it can also be used as a reference for diagnosis.
