The difference between placenta anterior and placenta previa, you will know after reading the following

After pregnancy, B-ultrasound will be used to check all pregnancy conditions, and the doctor will tell you the location of the placenta. Many mothers do not quite understand the difference between placenta anterior and placenta previa. Placenta previa occurs in the late pregnancy and may cause uterine bleeding. Let’s learn more about it.

First of all, we must know that there is an umbilical cord connecting the placenta and the fetus. The placenta is attached to the uterus, but the attachment position may be different for each person.

When the placenta is attached to this side of the belly, it is called the anterior placenta.

When the placenta is attached to the side closer to the back, it is called the posterior wall of the placenta.

When the placenta is attached to the side of the human body, it is called the placental sidewall, or more clearly divided into left and right walls.

All three situations are normal. Generally, the belly of a mother with anterior placenta will appear larger, while the belly of a mother with posterior placenta will appear relatively smaller.

What does placenta previa mean?

Placenta previa means that part or all of the placenta tissue covers the cervix.

Because the cervix will dilate before delivery and the fetus must be delivered vaginally from the cervix, placenta previa is extremely dangerous for natural delivery and can easily cause heavy bleeding. So to avoid this danger, please choose a cesarean section.

If the expectant mother is diagnosed with placenta previa, she should pay attention to:

1. Reduce activities and rest in bed, preferably lying on the left side. If you have abdominal pain, bleeding or other discomfort, seek medical attention immediately.

2. Avoid activities that increase abdominal pressure, such as straining during bowel movements, frequent coughing, squatting, etc. Avoid stimulating the abdomen with your hands, and move gently when changing body positions.

3. Keep the vulva clean, place a sanitary cleaning pad on the perineum, and change underwear frequently to prevent infection.
