What are the dangers of a woman's IUD moving downward?

The IUD is a relatively safe contraceptive measure, but it may also lead to unexpected events, such as the IUD may move downward. Many people don’t know the harm that the downward movement of the IUD can cause to the human body. You may experience bleeding as the IUD moves downward.

1. Bleeding

There will be a small amount of bleeding in the short term after the IUD is inserted. For some women, it will manifest as heavy menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, and irregular menstrual bleeding. Some patients also have irregular menstruation, increased leucorrhea mixed with blood, etc., which can not only cause anemia, but also affect the function of myoglobin, cytochrome and iron-containing enzymes, causing patients to feel drowsiness, fatigue, listlessness and other symptoms.

2. Soreness

Contraceptive rings are very harmful to the body. Some women will experience pain in the lower abdomen or lower back. This is because the contraceptive ring placed in the uterus is a "foreign body" to the uterus, especially when it is too large or positioned low. The uterus contracts to expel this "foreign body", causing uterine contraction pain.

3. Abnormal pregnancy

The IUD can only prevent normal pregnancy in the uterine cavity, but cannot prevent abnormal pregnancy outside the uterus. Therefore, it is inevitable that a small number of women who use IUDs for contraception will have ectopic pregnancy.

4. Inflammation

If the IUD moves downward, it will lose its contraceptive effect and cause vaginal bleeding. It is recommended that you remove it as soon as possible. The IUD can only play a normal contraceptive role when it is in the uterine cavity. If it moves downward, there will be enough space in the uterine cavity to allow the fertilized egg to implant, thus leading to contraceptive failure. This is very common in women of childbearing age. In addition, if the IUD moves away from its normal position and moves down to the cervix or lower segment of the uterus, it can damage the cervical mucosa and cause vaginal bleeding. Over time, it can act as a foreign body stimulus to the uterus and cervix, making chronic inflammation more likely to occur, leading to corresponding symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended that you remove it as soon as possible and choose a suitable IUD again.
