Many women will experience abdominal pain after giving birth, especially those who are giving birth for the first time. In many cases, it is because the lochia has not been completely discharged. At this time, you need to eat a light diet and pay attention to rest. You can also use Chinese medicine to regulate your body, such as taking some Motherwort Paste or Wu Ji Bai Feng Pills.

1. Self-treatment with patent medicine

(1) Shixiaosan, 9-15g each time, twice a day. Swallow with warm water. Used for blood stasis in the uterus.

(2) Motherwort paste (powder), 30 grams each time (1-2 bags), take with boiled water. Used for blood stasis in the uterus.

(4) Wu Ji Bai Feng Wan, 1 pill each time, twice a day. It is used for people with weak body and blood deficiency who suffer from dull pain and emptiness in the lower abdomen.

2. Prescriptions for self-treatment

(1) Take 1 sunflower head and 30g brown sugar, decoct in 2 servings. 1 post per day.

(2) 500g rice wine and 10g safflower, boil until the juice decreases to 250g. Take in 2 doses.

(3) 12g of Chinese angelica, 12g of peach kernel, 5g of licorice, 15g of Chuanxiong, 5g of roasted ginger, and 12g of Cyperus rotundus. Decoction in 2 doses. 1 post per day.

3. Dietary self-therapy

(1) 30 grams of ginger, 60 grams of angelica, and 120 grams of fatty mutton. First, boil the first two herbs in water and filter out the juice. Then use the juice to stew the mutton and eat it on an empty stomach every morning (the dosage can be determined at your discretion). If the abdominal pain does not disappear after the mother gives birth, it is called postpartum abdominal pain.

(2) Take 1.5g of dried ginger powder and 25g of brown sugar with boiled water for several times. This prescription is mainly used to treat postpartum abdominal pain, also known as occipital pain. It has the effects of warming the middle and dispelling cold, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

(3) Stir-fry 250g of old ginger and 500g of cooked rehmannia together and grind into powder. Take 10g each time with warm wine. Ginger warms the meridians and dispels cold, while cooked rehmannia nourishes yin and blood. It can be used by women who suffer from abdominal pain due to blood stasis and excessive blood loss after childbirth.

(4) Take 30-60 grams of raw hawthorn, 3 slices of ginger, and 30 grams of brown sugar, decoct in 2 doses. 1 post per day.

(5) Cook a small amount of pork and 30 grams of motherwort, then add a small amount of rice wine. Drink the soup and eat the meat.

(6) Stew 250 grams of mutton, 15 grams of angelica and 15 grams of ginger.

4. External treatment and self-therapy

(1) Fry 30g ginger (chopped into small pieces), 15g salt, and 100g oat bran until hot, wrap in a cloth and apply to the painful area.

(2) Boil 30g of Corydalis, 15g each of dried ginger, aconite and cinnamon bark, and 12g of mugwort for 10 minutes. Apply multiple layers of cloth soaked in the soup to the abdomen and replace them after cooling. 30 minutes each time.

(3) Feng-Cold Sand (Kan-Li Sand), fry and apply to the painful area twice a day.

(4) Take 120g of Ningma root, chop it into small pieces, stir-fry it with wine, and apply it to the painful area with a cloth. Take twice a day for those with bruises.

(5) Massage the abdomen several times a day, controlling the intensity of the massage yourself. This can help the gastrointestinal tract digest and expel gas, and it can also help the uterus recover and expel lochia in a timely manner.
