What is a mature follicle?

Mature follicles refer to the eggs that have good quality. The folliole is composed of an oocyte and many small and medium-sized oocytes around it in the ovarian cortex. According to the changes in shape and function of the uterus during development, it can be divided into three stages: initial egg, developing egg and mature follicle.

Medically speaking, a mature follicle is an egg that is larger than 10 mm and smaller than 18 mm in size on ultrasound. In the first half of the menstrual cycle - the follicular phase, under the action of estrogen. Generally, several eggs develop and grow gradually. Through B-ultrasound detection, it is found that near ovulation, there is always one egg that is larger in size. After the follicle ruptures and ovulates, the other eggs are absorbed and disappear one after another. People call this larger and most fully developed egg a mature follicle. If the normal menstruation is 30 days, the egg is considered a mature follicle if it grows to more than 1.0 from the tenth day of the menstrual period.

Only when the egg is mature can it be released, and only then will it have the ability to conceive, so the contribution of the egg cannot be underestimated. Polycystic ovary can have mature follicles through appropriate treatment.
