Usually women will ovulate about two weeks before their next menstrual period. Clinically, the ovulation day plus the five days before and the four days after are collectively called the ovulation period. If the menstruation is irregular, basal body temperature measurement can be used to calculate the ovulation day. The period from the end of menstruation to the day before ovulation is the safe period before ovulation. From the first day after the end of ovulation to the day before the next menstrual cramps is the safe period after ovulation. Generally speaking, the safe period after ovulation is safer than the safe period before ovulation. Irregular menstruation, how to calculate ovulation period If women with irregular menstruation want to calculate the ovulation period based on the menstrual period, it is easy to make mistakes. Therefore, doctors generally recommend other methods of observing the ovulation period, the most common of which is the basal body temperature measurement method. Under normal circumstances, the body temperature rises by 0.3℃-0.5℃ after ovulation; if there is no ovulation, the body temperature does not rise and remains low throughout the entire cycle. This method can only indicate that ovulation has occurred, but cannot predict when ovulation will occur. Basal body temperature is the body temperature measured in bed after waking up in the morning without doing any activity. It indirectly reflects the function of the ovaries. The basal body temperature before ovulation is lower than the normal body temperature. During ovulation, the body temperature continues to drop by 0.1-0.2℃. After ovulation, the body temperature immediately rises by 0.3-0.5℃ until the onset of menstruation. 1-2 days before the onset of menstruation, the body temperature will drop again. This is the so-called biphasic curve, indicating ovulation. If the body temperature remains close to the same level, it is called a monophasic curve, indicating that there is no ovulation. The subjects must sleep for 6-8 hours before the test and record the measured data on coordinate paper every day for 2-3 menstrual cycles. If your lifestyle is irregular, such as night shifts, business trips, insomnia, mood changes, illness, etc., this method cannot be used to determine whether ovulation has occurred. It is very important for young women to correctly grasp the ovulation period: if you want to get pregnant, start from the first day of the ovulation period, maintain a frequency of one-time sex every two days, and persist for several months. If there are no special circumstances, you will generally get pregnant. The period of time during which an egg can be fertilized after being released from the ovary is no more than 24 hours; a man's sperm can maintain its fertilizing ability in a woman's reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so it is easy to get pregnant a few days before and after the egg is released. Women who do not want to get pregnant need to miss these days. |
