Women will eat eggs during the confinement period after delivery. For women who have undergone cesarean section, they should eat eggs in moderation, and also eat some fruits appropriately. Do not drink too much brown sugar water.

1. Eat eggs in moderation

Eggs have high nutritional value and are rich in nutrients such as protein, fat, lecithin, yolk, calcium, iron and vitamin A. The fat is easily digested and absorbed by the human body. Lecithin and yolk play an important role in maintaining the health of the nervous system. They are especially suitable for postpartum women to eat. You can eat boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, egg soup or egg custard.

But the more eggs you eat, the better. Some new mothers eat more than a dozen eggs a day. Not only can they not be absorbed, but it will also affect the body's intake of other nutrients. Eating 3 to 4 eggs a day is enough. It is best not to eat eggs, especially within a few hours after delivery, because during the delivery process, great physical energy is consumed, sweating is excessive, body fluids are insufficient, and the digestive ability also decreases. If you eat eggs immediately after giving birth, they will be difficult to digest and will increase the burden on your gastrointestinal tract.

2. No need to say “no” to fruit

Influenced by traditional habits, some mothers do not eat raw or cold food during the confinement period, and they are even afraid to eat fruits. In fact, some fruits are very beneficial for postpartum recovery.

(1) Banana: Contains a large amount of fiber and iron, which has the effect of facilitating bowel movements and replenishing blood. Postpartum women often stay in bed to rest, have poor gastrointestinal motility, and are prone to constipation. In addition, they lose a lot of blood after childbirth and need blood supplement. Iron is one of the main raw materials for hematopoiesis, so eating more bananas can effectively prevent postpartum constipation and anemia. The more iron the mother consumes, the more iron will be contained in her breast milk, which can also help prevent anemia in the baby.

(2) Oranges: Rich in vitamin C and calcium. Vitamin C can enhance the elasticity and toughness of blood vessel walls and prevent bleeding. After delivery, the endometrium has a large wound and bleeding is more frequent. Eating more oranges can prevent continued bleeding after delivery. Calcium is an important component of the baby's bones and teeth. If the mother eats some oranges properly, she can provide calcium to the child through breast milk, which can promote the growth of the baby's teeth and bones and prevent the occurrence of rickets in the baby. In addition, orange seeds and orange peels (the white threads on the orange segments) have the effect of promoting lactation. Eating oranges can prevent blocked breast ducts.

(3) Hawthorn: Contains a large amount of hawthorn acid and citric acid, which can promote the production of body fluids, quench thirst, and promote blood circulation. New mothers often suffer from loss of appetite, dry mouth and reduced food intake due to excessive fatigue after giving birth. If they eat some hawthorn properly, it can not only increase appetite, aid digestion, increase food intake, which is beneficial to physical recovery and feeding the baby, but also use the blood circulation and blood stasis effect of hawthorn to expel blood stasis in the uterine cavity and relieve abdominal pain.

(4) Red dates: Contains the most vitamin C, and also contains a large amount of glucose and protein. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that red dates are the best tonic among fruits. They have the functions of nourishing the spleen and stomach, replenishing qi and promoting body fluid, regulating blood circulation, and reconciling all poisons. They are especially suitable for people with weak spleen and stomach and insufficient qi and blood after childbirth. They taste sweet and can be eaten in a variety of ways. They can be eaten raw, or cooked in porridge or steamed rice.

(5) Longan: Also known as longan, it is a fruit that is extremely nutritious. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that longan is sweet, mild, non-toxic, and enters the spleen and heart meridians. It is a good fruit for nourishing blood and benefiting the spleen. People who are weak after childbirth can eat some fresh longan or dried longan meat appropriately, which can not only replenish the qi of the spleen and stomach but also replenish the insufficient blood of the heart.

3. Don’t drink brown sugar water for a long time

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that brown sugar is warm in nature and has the effect of activating blood circulation. It is especially suitable for new mothers who suffer from postpartum weakness and blood stasis. It can promote the discharge of blood stasis and uterine recovery. Therefore, there is a folk custom in my country to drink brown sugar water after childbirth, and some new mothers even drink it for half a month or a month. In fact, it is not advisable to drink brown sugar water for a long time after delivery. Generally, it is enough to drink it for 7 to 10 days. Because drinking brown sugar water for too long is not good for the new mother's uterine recovery. Because the lochia gradually decreases 10 days after delivery and uterine contractions gradually return to normal. If you drink brown sugar water for too long, the blood-activating effect of the brown sugar will increase the amount of lochia, which will not only cause the new mother to lose too much blood, but also affect the recovery of the uterus.
