Five major causes of constipation in women, hurry up and "prescribe the right medicine"

I believe that many people in life have suffered from constipation, and have not been able to find a good solution no matter how hard they tried. This is really distressing, but as the saying goes in medicine, "treat the disease with the right medicine", patients can only prevent and treat constipation if they find the root cause.

Reason 1: Too little food intake

This often happens to women who diet to lose weight. Once the food intake drops to a certain level, it will not only cause hunger in the stomach, but also cause the intestines to deflate. Without enough food residue to stimulate intestinal peristalsis, the normal excretion function will naturally be lost. Long-term dieting can easily lead to intestinal dysfunction, which is very difficult to recover from. The solution is to increase your food intake to 70% full, and the volume must be sufficient, such as more fiber-rich fillers such as vegetables.

Reason 2: Too little fiber

Although most women do not follow a strict diet, they hardly eat coarse grains as staple food, or they only buy pseudo-coarse grain foods such as corn buns that are mainly made of refined white flour, and drink some millet porridge; the amount of vegetables is far from reaching one pound, and high-fiber beans and potatoes are rarely eaten, so there is not enough fiber in the diet. You should know that the large intestine mainly relies on fiber to absorb water to fill its volume. If there is too little fiber, the large intestine motility will be severely insufficient, which will not only slow down the bowel movement but also greatly increase the risk of colon cancer. The solution is to replace half of the white rice and white steamed bread with whole grains, bean porridge and potatoes. Oats, sweet potatoes and red beans are particularly recommended.

Reason 3: Dry body

In autumn, the air humidity is low and the temperature fluctuates. The human body still sweats and loses a lot of water. If you don’t drink enough water, it may cause dry stools. Eating less spicy food and more vegetables, fruits, and foods rich in soluble dietary fiber such as fungus, white fungus, kelp, and oat bran usually helps in this regard. If you combine it with some high-fiber seeds rich in trace elements, such as almonds, pine nuts, melon seeds, flax seeds that have not been roasted or fried, and some carrots and dark green leafy vegetables rich in provitamin A (necessary for repairing intestinal mucosa), there may be better results.

Reason 4: Not enough rest

Lack of sleep, overwork, emotional irritability, etc., can cause long-term excitement of the sympathetic nerves, inhibit gastrointestinal motility, and easily cause constipation. Other symptoms include dry skin, dry eyes, and fever. Only by eliminating the causes of physical and mental stress and giving the body a chance to rest and repair itself can you say goodbye to constipation. The solution is to go to bed early, have a regular living schedule, take deep breaths and relax your body frequently, increase leisure activities, and do exercises such as yoga to improve your mood. If necessary, you can take some Chinese patent medicine under the guidance of a doctor.

Reason 5: Poor physical fitness

Many women do have the urge to defecate, but they always feel that their intestines lack the strength to defecate. People of this type tend to have soft bodies, little muscle, weak digestion and absorption abilities, low visceral function, and insufficient intestinal motility. The solution is better nutrition and more exercise. Moderate exercise can greatly improve physical fitness, promote blood circulation, and thus improve intestinal motility. At the same time, eat foods that improve digestion and absorption, supplement vitamins and trace elements, restore the visceral muscles, and excretion will naturally become smooth.

There are other reasons that should not be ignored.

One is caused by adverse drug reactions. Many drugs have side effects that affect intestinal function, which can gradually recover after stopping the drug. The second is that there are organic lesions in the intestines.

Therefore, for people who have been suffering from constipation for a long time, it is best to get checked first. After ruling out any pathological changes, think about the cause and don’t be misled by so-called folk remedies, let alone use laxatives indiscriminately. The best ways to maintain intestinal health are to relax, eat healthily, massage your abdomen more often, supplement with probiotics appropriately, and balance the intestinal environment.
