"After answering a phone call, the person is gone." How to prevent sudden cardiac death?

An older sister left a message to Huazi, saying that she had been in great grief for the past few days because her husband had died suddenly. Her husband was in his fifties and suffered from high blood pressure and high blood lipids, but he was still under control. However, because he was overweight, he was trying to lose weight recently, so he had been eating meal replacements for a while and had not eaten properly.

A few days ago, her husband went out to eat with his friends. When they were about to eat, the eldest sister called her husband. They talked for less than 2 minutes and they quarreled over some trivial matters. Then her husband hung up the phone and returned to the dinner table. Suddenly, he fell on the table and died.

Because there was no autopsy, the exact cause of death was unknown, but the woman was obsessed with the phone call she made, repeatedly asking Huazi if her husband's death was related to the phone call she made. If she hadn't made that call, would her husband have died?

1. Unexpected sudden cardiac death Huazi comforted the older sister that her husband's death had no direct connection with the phone call she made. Judging from the performance during the attack, her husband was likely to have sudden cardiac death. Sudden cardiac death refers to an unpredictable sudden death due to heart problems. The time from onset to death is very short, less than an hour for most people, or even just a dozen minutes.

Sudden cardiac death is not uncommon. In the news that Huazi has seen, people who died of sudden cardiac death include drivers, couriers, actors, doctors, white-collar workers, leaders and other people from all walks of life. In front of the scythe of death, life is not divided into noble and humble. According to relevant statistics, the number of sudden cardiac deaths in my country is about 550,000 per year, which is an average of 1,500 people per day.

2. Common causes of sudden cardiac death 1. Acute myocardial infarction: Acute myocardial infarction is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death. Atherosclerosis has occurred in the coronary arteries. When the hardened plaques rupture, they will induce platelets to aggregate and form blood clots, causing blockage of the coronary arteries. The myocardial cells lack blood supply and stop working. The heart loses its pumping function and causes the patient's death.

If myocardial infarction induces ventricular fibrillation, the heart loses its pumping function and the patient will fall into a coma in about 10 seconds. After 4 to 6 minutes, the brain nerve cells will begin to die irreversibly. If myocardial infarction causes heart rupture, cardiac tamponade will cause the heart to be unable to contract and the patient will die quickly. If myocardial infarction only causes acute heart failure, blood pressure will drop rapidly and the patient will enter a state of shock. However, in this case, the patient may still have the opportunity to call for help.

2. Malignant arrhythmia: A small part of sudden cardiac death is caused by ventricular fibrillation caused by malignant arrhythmia, which is equivalent to cardiac arrest. It will cause the heart to lose its pumping function and lead to the patient's rapid death. There are many reasons for inducing malignant arrhythmia, such as excessive fatigue, staying up late, smoking a lot, drinking, or emotional excitement, which will lead to excessive secretion of adrenaline and norepinephrine in the human body, inducing ventricular fibrillation.

There are also disease factors such as Marfan syndrome, fulminant myocarditis, or adverse reactions when using anticardiac drugs, or electrolyte disorders in the body, especially when the blood potassium is too high or too low, which may induce malignant arrhythmias.

3. How to prevent sudden cardiac death To prevent sudden cardiac death, we must "prevent disease before it occurs". Sticking to a healthy diet, moderate exercise, and avoiding the occurrence of "three highs" such as high blood pressure, high blood lipids, and high blood sugar can prevent coronary atherosclerosis. If coronary atherosclerosis has already occurred, it is necessary to use statins under the guidance of a doctor to delay the progression of hardened plaques and "reinforce" unstable plaques to prevent rupture.

If the degree of coronary atherosclerosis is severe and the coronary artery stenosis has exceeded 50%, it is necessary to add antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin to statins. These can inhibit platelet aggregation and prevent the formation of blood clots when the plaque ruptures.

Smoking is more harmful to coronary arteries than the "three highs", so smokers must quit smoking. Drinking should be limited, and the daily alcohol intake should not exceed 25 grams. It is best not to drink. People who are usually irritable should pay attention to controlling their emotions and avoid drastic emotional fluctuations.

Also, be careful not to overeat, stay up late, or overwork. Eat a balanced diet and keep electrolytes stable. If you are taking antihypertensive drugs such as "pril", "sartan", diuretics, etc., you should regularly monitor blood potassium levels and adjust them in time if there are any abnormalities.

To sum up, the main causes of sudden cardiac death are acute myocardial infarction and malignant arrhythmia. Under the guidance of doctors, medications are used to improve healthy lifestyles and maintain emotional stability. Most sudden cardiac deaths can be prevented. I am pharmacist Huazi.
