What causes itchy, red and swollen vulva? Prevention is key

The female vagina is easily infected by bacteria, leading to gynecological diseases. Some women feel that vulvar itching is a private topic, so they are reluctant to talk about it. The consequence is that they miss the best time for treatment. If you want to improve the situation of vulvar itching, you must first know the causes of vulvar itching in order to do a better job of prevention.

1. Diabetes

Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by candidal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical attention due to vulvar itching and redness, and are only diagnosed with diabetes after further examination.

2. Vitamin Lack

When patients with jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia and other chronic diseases experience vulvar itching, it is often part of systemic itching.

3. Cholestasis

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy may also present with generalized itching of the skin, including the vulva.

4. Congestion of the vulva

During pregnancy and premenstrual period, the vulva becomes congested, which may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort.

5. Unexplained vulvar itching

Some patients have very severe vulvar itching, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some scholars currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.

How to prevent vulvar itching

1. Female friends should wear less tight pants, leggings and pantyhose in daily life, and try to wear breathable cotton to allow sufficient air flow to the private parts to keep dry.

2. When the secretion is not too much, female friends should be careful not to use sanitary pads, because if it is damp, it will easily aggravate or cause vulvar skin problems.

3. In daily life, do not use bactericides or disinfectants to clean the female private parts to avoid irritating the skin; choose neutralizing, weakly acidic or soap-free ingredients as much as possible. However, the best way is to wash it with clean water, and remember not to use too hot water to avoid aggravating the inflammation symptoms.

4. Develop good daily living habits, such as washing hands immediately after going to the toilet, and wiping urine and feces from the vagina to the anus. Try to avoid sitting for long periods of time to reduce the heat and humidity and stay dry.
