Follow-up

After the hydatidiform mole is expelled, hCG should be checked once a week. If it is negative, it should be checked every 1 to 2 months. In the second year, it should be checked every 6 months for at least two years. While checking hCG, chest X-rays should be taken regularly. To avoid a second hydatidiform mole or malignant transformation, the patient should be advised to adhere to contraception for 1 to 2 years.
