Local fumigation with decoction of fig leaves can treat sores and swellings. The Hunan Pharmacopoeia records that fig roots (fruits are also acceptable) stewed with lean pork or cooked with eggs and eating the meat or eggs can treat rheumatic pain and numbness in the muscles and bones. Peel the fig root, crush it, and soak it in boiling water to treat dry and itchy throat. In addition, 50 grams of fig root, decocted in water, can be used to treat cervical lymph node tuberculosis.
