What to do if there is less amniotic fluid in the fourth month of pregnancy

Everyone knows that the fetus lives in the amniotic fluid in the uterus. The amniotic fluid is like a protective shield for the fetus. It can maintain the life of the fetus and plays a decisive role in the health of the fetus. However, during pregnancy, because the pregnant woman's body is constantly changing, we cannot ignore prenatal checkups. If too little amniotic fluid is found during the pregnancy checkup, you must be hospitalized as soon as possible to avoid dangerous situations.

Oligohydramnios refers to the situation where the amount of amniotic fluid is less than 300 ml in late pregnancy or at full term. Most pregnant women with oligohydramnios generally do not have obvious discomfort, so it is usually discovered during the prenatal check-up by the doctor through physical examination or ultrasound examination. However, some expectant mothers may feel that the speed at which their belly grows has slowed down, and the fetal movement is more obvious than before. Sometimes a fetal movement can cause obvious abdominal pain. This is caused by the loss of the buffering effect of amniotic fluid, and the force of fetal movement directly acts on the local uterine wall to stimulate uterine contraction.

If there is too little amniotic fluid, your doctor will monitor the fetus closely to make sure it continues to develop normally. A careful inspection is required. After ruling out the possibility of fetal malformation, the fetus's condition in the uterus and changes in the amount of amniotic fluid can be closely observed. If oligohydramnios is caused by insufficient maternal blood volume or hypoxia, drinking plenty of water, intravenous infusion and oxygen inhalation can indeed play a certain role. For mothers with hypercoagulation function, low molecular weight heparin can be injected subcutaneously or low molecular weight dextran can be infused intravenously to make the blood less easy to coagulate, improve the blood circulation in the placenta, and facilitate the formation of amniotic fluid.

There are many medical methods in clinical practice that can help pregnant women smoothly pass through the period of oligohydramnios and ensure the health and safety of the fetus, but this also requires the cooperation of pregnant women. Therefore, in the later stages of pregnancy, you must go to the hospital for regular check-ups so that you can detect oligohydramnios or other conditions that endanger the health of the fetus more promptly.
