How many days is the luteal phase?

Most women are not particularly clear about their luteal phase, because what we know best are the safe period of menstruation and the ovulation period, which are the three most important periods for women. As for the luteal phase, it does not have a big function for women, but it can normally judge the pregnancy status of women, and the luteal phase is particularly short, so how many days is the normal luteal phase?

Normal value:

The level of serum progesterone varies significantly at different stages of a woman's life; there is also a certain fluctuation every day, usually higher in the early morning than in the afternoon, and the difference is even greater during adolescence. For ease of comparison, it is generally required that blood sampling times be standardized.

Follicular phase: 0.6~1.9nmol/L;

Ovulation period: 1.1~11.2nmol/L;

Luteal phase: 20.8~103.0nmol/L.

What is the normal amount of progesterone in the luteal phase? What is progesterone? When is the luteal phase?

What is Progesterone

Progesterone is also known as progesterone. It can also be called progesterone, progesterone, progestagen, progesterone, progestin or progesterone, etc. It is called progesterone in English, abbreviated as "P". It is a progestin that can protect the female endometrium. During pregnancy, progesterone can provide support and protection for the early growth and development of the fetus, and can have a certain calming effect on the uterus. In clinical practice, the progesterone content in women's bodies can be used to diagnose whether they have symptoms of threatened abortion, and it can also be used to determine whether the corpus luteum function and ovarian ovulation are normal.

When is the luteal phase

The luteal phase generally refers to the 15th to 28th day of the menstrual cycle, which usually lasts 14 days. During this time, the follicles in the ovaries mature, ovulate and gradually form a corpus luteum, which is called the luteal phase. For example, if a woman's menstrual cycle is 28 days, the first 14 days are the follicular phase and the last 14 days are her luteal phase.

The difference between menstrual period, follicular phase, ovulation phase and luteal phase

A woman's menstrual cycle can be divided into four phases: the menstrual phase, the follicular phase, the ovulation phase and the luteal phase.

What is the normal amount of progesterone in the luteal phase? What is progesterone? When is the luteal phase?

The menstrual period refers to the time when women have their menstrual period. During this period, since pregnancy does not occur, under the regulation of pituitary hormones, the secretion of estrogen and progesterone in the ovaries decreases, the endometrial blood supply arterioles spasm and contract, and then rupture, causing the endometrium to be ischemic, necrotic and shed, which manifests as menstruation. At this time, women's skin generally improves.

The menstrual period is followed by the follicular phase, which generally lasts 8 to 10 days. When menstruation just ends, as the ovaries produce estrogen, the follicles gradually develop and mature. High levels of estrogen cause the proliferation of the endometrium, which is beneficial for the implantation of the fertilized egg.

The ovulation period comes after the menstrual period. The ovulation period usually lasts for a week, and the ovulation day only lasts one day. Because of ovulation during this period, the empty follicle will immediately collapse, bleed, and form a blood body. Then the blood in it is absorbed to form a corpus luteum with secretory function. The corpus luteum begins to secrete progesterone.

After the ovulation period comes the luteal phase. After ovulation, estrogen decreases, but because the corpus luteum is secreted more, progesterone will also be more at this time, which can enrich the endometrium with nutrients and further thicken it, providing a stable place for pregnancy.
