What are the dangers of taking emergency contraceptive pills?

With the development of society, the lifestyles of many young people have become less conservative, and premarital sex has become one of the most common lifestyles among young people today. However, since many young people lack knowledge about contraception, emergency contraceptive pills have become their main measure of contraception afterwards. So what are the dangers of taking emergency contraceptive pills? Let me introduce it to you below.

1. Nausea. The incidence of nausea in women taking emergency contraceptive pills is highest, about 50%; levonorgestrel is second, about 20%; and mifepristone is the lowest, about 6%-7%. Nausea usually lasts no longer than 24 hours.

2. Vomiting. About 20% of women who used emergency contraception experienced vomiting; about 5% with levonorgestrel; and about 1% with mifepristone. Taking the drug with food or before bedtime can reduce the incidence of nausea and vomiting. If you vomit within 1 hour after taking the emergency contraceptive pill, you should take another dose as soon as possible.

3. Irregular uterine bleeding. Some women will experience bleeding after using emergency aphrodisiacs. This is normal and generally does not require treatment. If heavy bleeding occurs, you should seek medical advice immediately.

4. Menstrual changes. Most women have their menstruation on time, but some women have their menstruation early or late. If your period is delayed by a week, you should do a urine pregnancy test to determine whether emergency contraception has failed.

5. Others. Breast tenderness, headache, dizziness, fatigue, etc. These symptoms are generally mild and last no more than 24 hours.

6. Changes in ovulation period. Taking emergency contraceptive pills can also disrupt the menstrual cycle, making it impossible to calculate the safe period and ovulation period.

Through the above introduction, I believe many friends have already known that taking emergency contraceptive pills is very harmful to women. In mild cases, it can cause nausea and vomiting, and in severe cases, it can cause endocrine disorders in women and lead to the breeding of more gynecological diseases. It can be seen from this that emergency contraceptive pills cannot be taken frequently, and conventional contraceptive methods should also be adopted.
