Several examinations that pregnant women must do

Pregnant women need to undergo about a dozen examinations during pregnancy. These examinations are necessary and are guaranteed for the health of both the pregnant woman and the fetus. There are different types of pregnant women, and each one has a specific time and function. In order to give birth to a healthy baby, expectant mothers must pay attention to pregnant women and actively cooperate. When preparing for pregnancy, it is also very important for the couple to undergo a pre-pregnancy check-up.

The role of pregnancy tests

Keep informed of the baby's health;

Find out if you have any disease in time;

Eliminate any pregnancy complications as soon as possible;

Predict whether there will be difficulties during delivery, etc.

Several examinations that pregnant women must do

1. It is recommended that the first prenatal check-up for pregnant women be performed at 12 weeks of pregnancy. The corresponding items of prenatal examination include establishing a pregnancy health care manual, determining the gestational age, estimating the expected date of delivery, evaluating high-risk factors during pregnancy, blood pressure, body mass index, fetal heart rate, routine blood tests, routine urine tests, blood type (ABO and Rh), fasting blood sugar, liver function and kidney function, hepatitis B virus surface antigen, syphilis spirochete, HIV screening, electrocardiogram. In addition, if you have not had a pre-marital or pre-pregnancy check-up, you must add a test for thalassemia. If you have a pet, you must also check for corresponding parasites.

2. Prenatal check-ups are recommended once a month, so the second prenatal check-up is recommended at 16 weeks of pregnancy. Analyze the results of the first prenatal check-up, blood pressure, weight, uterine fundus height, abdominal circumference, fetal heart rate, and mid-pregnancy Down syndrome blood screening (15-20 weeks). One of the more important examination items is called Down syndrome screening.

3. The third prenatal check-up is recommended to be performed at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The main examination items include blood pressure, weight, blood routine, urine routine, uterine fundus height, etc.

4. The fourth prenatal check-up should be done when the pregnant woman is 24 weeks pregnant. The most important item in the fourth routine prenatal check-up is the screening for gestational diabetes - glucose tolerance screening. At the same time, before doing this examination, you must pay attention to not eating after 8 pm.

There are many kinds of prenatal checkups for pregnant women, so I won’t list them all here. The closer you are to giving birth, the shorter the interval between prenatal checkups. If you count carefully, you will need to do 13 prenatal checkups in total.

The role of prenatal testing

Pre-pregnancy check-up refers to a physical examination at the hospital before a couple prepares to become pregnant, in order to ensure the birth of a healthy baby and achieve eugenics. Pre-pregnancy check-ups are different from routine physical examinations and are mainly examinations of the reproductive system and genetic factors. A pre-pregnancy checkup of relevant items by both husband and wife is the basic guarantee for the lifelong health of the child. A healthy baby must first be the result of the combination of healthy sperm and egg, so men also need to be examined. The best time for prenatal check-up is 3 to 6 months before pregnancy.
