What is menopausal vaginitis?

It should be noted that even female friends in menopause may suffer from vaginitis. During menopause, some women are extremely unlikely to get pregnant and do not use condoms during sexual intercourse. In this case, dirt from the male penis and foreskin is more likely to be brought into the female vagina, causing vaginal inflammation. In order to avoid this phenomenon, even menopausal women should pay attention to the hygiene of their sexual life.

Senile vaginitis, also known as atrophic vaginitis, is a nonspecific vaginitis. When it occurs, it is often manifested by an increase in yellowish leucorrhea. In severe cases, there may be bloody and purulent leucorrhea. It often occurs in postmenopausal women. Vaginal bleeding, pain and burning sensation in the vagina may occur. If the vestibule and mucosa around the urethral opening are involved, frequent urination and painful urination often occur.

Due to physiological changes in the vagina, postmenopausal women are afraid of and stay away from normal sexual life, making it difficult for them to have sex, which can cause rifts between couples, and it is not uncommon for husbands to ask for divorce. Senile vaginitis is a common disease and is closely related to sex. It further affects the already diminished sexual desire, and a small number of patients even terminate their sexual life. Sexual intercourse may cause vaginal lacerations, pain, and bleeding, which may lead to the disappearance of sexual pleasure and difficulty in achieving orgasm. When suffering from inflammation, burning pain or itching in the vulva can directly affect sexual interest. Refusing the husband's sexual demands can easily cause emotional disputes between the couple.

It should also be noted that with the widespread use of antibiotics and some anti-inflammatory drugs, a considerable number of pathogens have developed drug resistance to our bodies. Sometimes, for example, the number of common lactobacilli in the vagina is slightly larger, which may cause the ecological balance of the vagina to be disrupted, which can lead to vaginal inflammation. Therefore, women during menopause must be careful not to use antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs indiscriminately.
