How long does it take for the ectopic pregnancy mass to be absorbed?

The conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy is to use medication under the doctor's advice after the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, causing the gestational sac to wither and then be removed from the body. This method seems very easy and can easily eliminate the trouble of ectopic pregnancy without surgical treatment. Conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy takes at least ten days to a month, so how long does it take for the ectopic pregnancy mass to be digested and absorbed?

How long does it take for an ectopic pregnancy mass to be digested and absorbed?

The absorption speed of the ectopic pregnancy mass varies from person to person. Even the results of two ectopic pregnancies in the same individual are completely different. Ectopic pregnancy refers to the implantation of the embryo in another place outside the uterus. Tubal pregnancy is the most common. The patient has a history of amenorrhea, irregular vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, cervical lifting pain, increased blood hcg, no fetal sac in the uterine cavity, and a mass in the adnexal area. The diagnosis can be basically confirmed. The treatment of ectopic pregnancy includes surgical treatment and conservative treatment. If it is conservative treatment, chemotherapy drugs are used to inhibit trophoblast proliferation and destroy villi, so that the test tube embryo will organize, necrotize, fall off, and be absorbed. If the ectopic pregnancy is successful, the mass in the adnexal area does not need special treatment. This method of mass absorption is relatively slow. If surgery is required, the lump can be removed immediately.

Conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy:

The traditional treatment is to remove the test tube embryo tissue of the ectopic pregnancy and keep the integrity and patency of both fallopian tubes as much as possible, such as bilateral salpingotomy or bilateral salpingostomy. The complete elimination surgery is to remove both fallopian tubes on the side of the ectopic pregnancy.

The advantage of traditional surgery is that it causes less damage to the fallopian tubes, thus preserving the patient's reproductive ability as much as possible. However, the disadvantage is that there may still be residual embryonic tissue in the fallopian tubes that need to be removed surgically again. At the same time, the chance of ectopic pregnancy occurring again in the fallopian tubes on the preserved side is also higher.

The success rate of conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy is determined by various factors, such as the duration of ectopic pregnancy, the clinical symptoms of the pregnant woman, and the treatment method of the physician. Therefore, if an ectopic pregnancy is discovered, it must be treated as soon as possible, as this will have a certain impact on the success rate of treatment. The success rate of conservative treatment for most ectopic pregnancies can reach 80%.

However, conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy also has certain risks. If the drugs fail to kill the test tube embryo, the test tube embryo will grow larger and larger, causing bilateral fallopian tube rupture and internal bleeding. Or if part of the test tube embryo is killed and the other part survives, there will be old test tube embryos, leading to future infertility. The duration of conservative treatment depends on the actual effect of the treatment. If the actual effect is not ideal, surgical treatment must be performed as soon as possible.
