Menstrual constipation usually occurs 7 to 14 days before menstruation, worsens 2 to 3 days before menstruation, and gradually eases and disappears after menstruation. It is often accompanied by symptoms of irritability, fatigue and weakness, and sometimes causes headaches, insomnia, lower abdominal pain and breast tenderness. In medicine, these obvious changes are called premenstrual syndrome. This is related to the formation of the corpus luteum in the late menstrual period. The progesterone secreted by the ovaries can reduce the tension of the gastrointestinal smooth muscle, inhibit intestinal peristalsis, and reduce the sensitivity of intestinal irritation.

1. Eat a certain amount of vegetables and fruits every day, and eat some coarse grains appropriately.

2. Drink a glass of warm water or honey water on an empty stomach in the morning, and massage your abdomen or turn your waist; massage your abdomen before going to bed every night; develop the habit of regular bowel movements.

3. Perform appropriate physical activities outside of menstrual period, such as supine leg curls, deep squats, and other exercises that can strengthen abdominal activity, promote gastrointestinal motility, and help promote defecation.
