Does holding urine affect pregnancy ultrasound?

We all know that during pregnancy, many examinations need to be done, generally including B-ultrasound examination, Down syndrome screening, color ultrasound, etc., which are all necessary during pregnancy. But there is also an important thing, which is that you have to hold your urine when doing color ultrasound. When there are few people, it is okay and there will be nothing to worry about after the examination. But when there are many people, you have to wait. So what are the dangers of holding urine when doing color ultrasound?

1. Urinary tract infection: Holding urine for a long time will cause more and more urine to accumulate in the bladder. If the urine containing bacteria and toxic substances cannot be discharged in time, it will easily cause diseases such as cystitis and urethritis. In severe cases, urinary tract infection can spread upward to the kidneys, causing pyelonephritis and even affecting kidney function.

2. Cause "heart" disease: Under the influence of the dual physiological and psychological stress factors caused by holding urine, the blood pressure of hypertensive patients rises and the heart rate accelerates. Patients with coronary heart disease will experience angina pectoris and heart failure.

It can cause symptoms such as arrhythmia, and may also be a trigger for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and in severe cases may even lead to sudden death.

3. Bladder damage: The nerves that control bladder contraction are distributed in the muscles of the bladder wall. Holding urine for too long will cause the nerves to be ischemic or over-stretched and damaged, causing sequelae such as painful urination, frequent urination, or incomplete urination. If the nerve damage is severe and the bladder sphincter is weak, it may even result in the inability to urinate.

4. Induce urinary syncope: Urinary syncope mostly occurs in men aged 20 to 30 years old, and occasionally in the elderly. It is mainly caused by sudden and forceful urination, which increases the intrathoracic pressure and leads to cerebral ischemia. In addition, cold weather and holding urine can cause too much urine in the bladder. When it is emptied quickly, it can cause bradycardia through the vagus nerve reflex and can also induce urinary syncope.

Only by understanding the impact of holding urine during pregnancy ultrasound in advance can we increase our attention to holding urine, prompt us to do the corresponding nursing work, reduce unnecessary situations during pregnancy, and help our mothers to give birth normally without any problems.
