What causes a long menstrual period?

Every adult woman will have menstruation every month, but because of different physical fitness, some women will have early menstruation, while others will have delayed menstruation. In addition, the phenomenon of prolonged menstruation is also very common. However, many people don’t know much about menstruation. Let me introduce to you what is going on with prolonged menstruation!

Normal menstruation lasts for 2-7 days, and in some cases it lasts for 3-5 days. If your period lasts longer than 7 days, it is considered a prolonged period. Prolonged menstruation should be taken seriously and the cause should be investigated in depth. It is usually related to the following factors.

1. Spleen deficiency and loss of blood control: The main manifestations are spleen deficiency and weak qi, fatigue damaging the spleen, and loss of blood control, which leads to prolonged menstruation.

2. Insufficient kidney qi: If a woman’s kidney qi is too weak, or she has given birth too many times, it will lead to kidney deficiency and prolonged menstruation.

3. Yin deficiency and internal heat: Women with weak constitutions who do not pay much attention during sexual intercourse, or who have had multiple pregnancies, can develop yin deficiency and internal heat, causing prolonged menstruation.

4. Dampness and heat: If a woman has dampness and heat in her body and has excessive internal fire, if she has sex during her menstrual period, it will cause dampness and heat to enter the uterus, affecting the menstrual period and causing it to be too long.

5. Blood stasis blocking the meridians: If a woman has blood stasis in her body, or if the blood stasis during childbirth is not cleared and infected, it is easy for the blood to be discharged during menstruation. Blood stasis blocks the blood vessels, preventing blood from returning to the menstruation and causing prolonged menstruation.

If prolonged menstrual periods are not treated in time, it will cause a series of complications or gynecological inflammation, affecting women’s normal life and work. In severe cases, it will also affect women’s normal fertility. I hope female friends can pay attention to this.

From the above introduction, we can see that there are many reasons that lead to prolonged menstruation. Generally speaking, it has a lot to do with spleen deficiency, kidney deficiency, yin deficiency, dampness and heat, etc. It should be noted that prolonged menstruation has a great impact on women. If it is not treated in time, it may lead to infertility, so it should be taken seriously.
