Can women get appendicitis?

Appendicitis is a common gastrointestinal disease in life. There is no gender difference in appendicitis. Both men and women may suffer from it, and the incidence rate of appendicitis is also very high. Nowadays, some young people in junior high school and high school also suffer from appendicitis. However, there are many causes of appendicitis. The main symptom is pain in the lower right abdomen, accompanied by a feeling of gastrointestinal discomfort. The symptoms are more obvious when pressing the painful area.

There is no gender difference in appendicitis, either in terms of incidence or other aspects. And there are often more female patients than male patients, because female patients are more likely to have intestinal discomfort, which leads to more causes of inflammation. The symptom is right lower abdominal pain that transfers to the right side. Pressing the painful area often makes the pain worse, and it will throb when you release it.

The appendix, also known as the vermiform process, is a long and thin blind tube inside the cecum.

The length and location of the human appendix vary. It is generally 7 to 9 cm long and located in the iliac fossa in the right lower abdomen. The proximal end of the appendix is connected to the cecum, and the distal end is a blind end. There is abundant lymphoid tissue in the submucosal layer of the appendix, which often proliferates, causing narrowing or obstruction of the appendix cavity. There are often feces, stones, parasites, etc. retained in the appendix cavity. These factors can cause poor drainage of the contents of the appendix cavity, especially because the appendix artery is a terminal artery with poor blood supply. Once the blood circulation is impaired due to some reason, it is easy to cause ischemia and necrosis of the appendix and inflammation.

Through the above introduction, female friends should have a certain understanding of appendicitis. Appendicitis can occur at all ages. Its main symptom is abdominal pain. However, sometimes women with appendicitis often treat it as pelvic inflammatory disease. When treating appendicitis, you should also pay attention to dietary regularity and eat less irritating foods.
