Can a marriage examination detect cervical erosion?

Marriage is a major event in life, and young couples must undergo a strict pre-marital physical examination before marriage. The pre-marital physical examination mainly conducts a detailed examination of both parties' family medical history, personal medical history, and whether they have mental illness to ensure their future daily life. Basic premarital examinations include kidney function and liver function tests, and genital examinations mainly check whether the sexual organs of both parties are normal. So, can a pre-marital physical examination detect cervical erosion?

1. Can cervical erosion be detected during premarital examination?

For women who have never had sex, it is usually not easy to do a gynecological examination during the premarital checkup, so it is impossible to find out whether there is cervical erosion at this time. However, for women who have already had sexual life, they usually have a routine physical examination of secretions and a gynecological examination during the premarital check-up, so if there is cervical erosion, it can be detected. Since cervical erosion refers to erosion-like changes in the cervix, the doctor will use a dilator to dilate the vagina and reveal the cervix when taking secretions, so that the naked eye can see whether there is cervical erosion.

2. What are the new items for pre-marriage check-up?

1. The premarital check-up includes internal medicine examination, mainly checking whether there are any abnormalities in cardiopulmonary function, whether the liver, spleen and lymph nodes are enlarged, and whether normal nerve reflexes exist; the gynecological examination should check the female genitals, and a bimanual examination of the abdomen and anus should be performed. If an anal examination reveals abnormal changes in the internal genitalia and a vaginal examination is necessary, the reason must be explained to the patient and relatives and the examination can only be carried out after obtaining their consent.

2. During the premarital checkup, pay attention to whether there is hymen occlusion, vaginal defects or occlusion, uterine defects or hypoplasia or deformity, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, etc. You should also pay attention to whether the private skin and mucous membranes are inflamed, damaged or ulcerated to avoid misdiagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases.

3. When examining the male reproductive organs, attention should be paid to whether there is foreskin that is too long, penile induration, short penis, hypospadias, cryptorchidism, small testicles, varicocele and hydrocele, etc.
