What are the symptoms of chronic adnexitis?

In our daily life, we often see many women who feel back pain after sitting for a long time, and their menstruation is particularly irregular. This has a great impact on their normal life and will affect their health over time. If we want to effectively relieve such symptoms, we must understand the causes. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of chronic adnexitis.

What are the symptoms of chronic adnexitis?

Chronic adnexitis causes abdominal pain of varying degrees. Chronic inflammation recurs over time, causing pelvic congestion, connective tissue fibrosis, and adhesions of pelvic organs. Patients experience symptoms such as lower abdominal distension, pain, and lumbar pain, which may be mild or severe, accompanied by increased vaginal discharge, low back pain, menstrual disorders, etc., and often worsen during menstruation or after fatigue. During gynecological examination, there is tenderness in the adnexal area on both sides or one side, a feeling of thickening, or a tender mass, and the white blood cell count is increased or normal.

Some symptoms of adnexitis are not obvious. Since the fallopian tubes and ovaries are adjacent to each other, it is difficult to distinguish them when inflammation occurs. In particular, chronic inflammation of the fallopian tubes can lead to fibrosis, thickening and blockage of the fallopian tubes, and may also cause adhesions with surrounding tissues. If both ends of the fallopian tubes are blocked, hydrosalpinx may form, and the accumulated water may penetrate into the ovaries that are adhered together, forming fallopian tube-ovarian cysts. This is the main cause of post-marital infertility or ectopic pregnancy.

Causes

It can be caused by a variety of reasons:

1. After delivery or abortion, due to the decrease in the patient's resistance, the pathogens ascend through the damaged reproductive tract and spread to the fallopian tubes and ovaries, and then spread to the entire pelvic cavity, causing inflammation.

2. While intrauterine contraceptive devices are widely used, patients do not pay attention to personal hygiene or the surgical procedures are not strict, resulting in this condition.

3. Uterine cavity operations performed without strict disinfection, such as vacuum extraction, hysterosalpingography, cervical canal treatment, and obstetric surgery infections without strict disinfection.

4. Not paying attention to menstrual hygiene, having sexual intercourse during menstruation or unclean sexual intercourse, etc.

5. If infections in other parts of the body are not treated promptly, the pathogens can spread through the bloodstream and cause fallopian tube and oophoritis, which is more common in tuberculosis diseases.

6. Inflammation of organs adjacent to the pelvic cavity or fallopian tubes: For example, in case of appendicitis, it can directly spread to cause salpingitis, oophoritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and peritonitis. The inflammation usually occurs in the adjacent fallopian tube and ovary.

7. Sexually transmitted diseases: such as gonorrhea. After infection, gonococci can spread upward along the mucous membrane, causing inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries.

When you are sick, remember not to take medicine blindly. You must understand the cause of the disease and then prescribe the right medicine. The above is an introduction to the symptoms of chronic adnexitis. After understanding, we know that adnexitis generally causes low back pain or irregular menstruation and difficulty in conceiving. Therefore, female friends should go to the hospital for examination and diagnosis once they have these symptoms before prescribing the right medicine. In addition, you must pay attention to good personal hygiene in your daily life and have regular work and rest habits.
