What is atrophic vulvar leukoplakia?

Some muscles or organs of the body will show various symptoms of aging with age, which is normal. However, adverse aging of some parts will burden the human body and have a great psychological impact. Marital life is a normal way for couples to communicate their feelings. Sometimes women will have atrophic vulvar leukoplakia, which is not only a signal of unhealthy body, but also a factor that affects life. What is needed for treatment?

Atrophic vulvar leukoplakia is a type of vulvar morphology that changes significantly and causes greater harm to patients. The vulvar skin becomes dry and thin, with decreased elasticity, and the clitoris and labia majora and minora atrophy. In severe cases, the vagina may also atrophy, causing pain during intercourse or even difficulty in intercourse, which is extremely harmful to women's physical and mental health.

Female vulva atrophy usually has the following two factors:

1. Normal physiological atrophy. In middle-aged and elderly women after menopause, ovarian function declines, estrogen secretion levels decrease, and target organs atrophy accordingly. The vulva atrophy caused by this situation does not affect the morphology of the vulva.

2. Atrophic vulvar leukoplakia. The disease is caused by disorders in the subcutaneous microcirculation of the vulva and metabolic dysfunction, which lead to varying degrees of itching, thickening or thinning of the epidermal keratinization, dryness, atrophy and other symptoms in the vulvar skin, tissues and mucous membranes. The vulvar atrophy is not obvious in the early stage. If it is not treated in time and cared for, factors such as gynecological inflammation, birth trauma, and allergies will aggravate the symptoms of vulvar leukoplakia.

This requires dietary adjustment and drug treatment. If you find yourself feeling unwell, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible. After finding out the cause, follow the doctor's instructions, use some external ointments, pay attention to the hygiene of your underwear, and use some special vulva cleansers for cleaning. Apart from that, do not scratch the itchy area.
