What are the surgical treatments for cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion can be divided into three levels according to the severity of the disease: mild, moderate and severe. When cervical erosion is still mild, it can be treated with medication and can generally be cured. However, because the symptoms are not obvious when the disease is mild, many people will delay treatment, allowing the disease to worsen and reach moderate or even severe levels. At this time, drug treatment is no longer effective and surgical treatment should be adopted.

1. Drug treatment: suitable for patients with smaller erosion area and shallower inflammatory infiltration. Antibiotics can be used for local application, such as metronidazole, sulfonamides, furazolidone, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the clinical treatment of cervical erosion, and the effect is also good. Some proven prescriptions and formulas are often selected, processed into powders or suppositories, placed on cotton balls, and applied to the eroded surface.

2. Physical therapy: It is a widely used treatment method with the advantages of short treatment course and good efficacy. It is suitable for patients with larger erosion area and deeper inflammatory infiltration. Commonly used methods include electric ironing, laser therapy, and cryotherapy.

3. Traditional surgical treatment: If the above treatment is ineffective, or there is cervical hypertrophy, or the erosion is deep and wide, and involves the cervical canal, traditional surgical treatments such as total hysterectomy can be considered. However, surgical treatment is rarely used nowadays.

4. High-frequency LEEP technique: The tissue specimen is intact and is not prone to the phenomenon of tissue stretching and carbonization that occurs during traditional electric knife cutting. This allows for the acquisition of intact tissue specimens that do not affect pathological examination.

5. BBT ablation: BBT ablation is a very delicate surgery for the treatment of cervical erosion. It not only does not damage the surrounding tissues, but also is painless during the treatment and leaves no scars after the operation. It can also better avoid complications such as bleeding or infection, and has the advantage of not affecting reproductive function after the operation.

When cervical erosion is severe, the area is large, and the degree of inflammatory infiltration is deep, surgical treatment is required. However, traditional surgery requires removal of the uterus, so it is rarely used now. The commonly used surgery now is ablation, which has a very good treatment effect and will not affect the surrounding tissues.
