Can I breastfeed while receiving mastitis infusion?

Many mastitis patients come from our young mothers. After suffering from mastitis, mothers are very worried that their children will not be able to eat milk, because milk is the most nutritious thing for children. However, many mothers will have a fever during mastitis. If they have a fever, they will be infused so that the body temperature can be lowered. But if the mother is infused when she has mastitis, can she still feed her child milk?

If you cannot breastfeed after infusion, do not breastfeed within 72 hours after infusion. Because the medicine may affect the baby.

Guidance and suggestions: Breastfeed 72 hours after infusion, and the milk needs to be expressed during this period. Infusion can reduce inflammation and fever. If the milk in the body is not discharged, the disease will recur.

TCM's external treatment of internal diseases

Eight methods to treat mastitis: Mastitis is a common clinical disease, especially common in women during lactation. Generally speaking, if you have mastitis and the symptoms are not very serious, you can continue breastfeeding, but if they are serious, you should stop breastfeeding. To treat mastitis, start by cleaning the breasts.

At the same time, the combination of the eight methods will achieve good therapeutic effects.

Pay attention to cleanliness: pay attention to rest in the early stage, stop breastfeeding, clean the nipples and areola, promote milk discharge (using a breast pump or sucking), and stop breastfeeding if incision and drainage are required. This is the first prerequisite for treating mastitis.

Use milk-reducing medicine: Stop breastfeeding on the affected side and use a breast pump to express milk. Appropriate use of lactation-reducing drugs can be used, such as oral administration of diethylstilbestrol 1 mg once, 3 times a day, or bromocriptine 2.5 mg once, 3 times a day.

Antibiotics: Systemic antibiotics. To prevent and treat severe infection and sepsis, antibiotics are selected based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity, and intravenous antibiotics are given when necessary.

Hot compress: Apply local hot compress, or wash 60 grams each of fresh dandelion and honeysuckle leaves, add a little vinegar or wine, and mash them for external application. Support your breasts with wide bands or a bra.

Please be careful. Mothers cannot breastfeed their children while they are receiving an infusion, because their breast milk contains a lot of medicinal properties. The child is very weak and has poor resistance at this time. The impact on the child after drinking the breast milk is very large. It is best to breastfeed the child after the fever subsides. When treating mastitis yourself, you must pay attention to the methods and avoid breast infection.
