What are the symptoms of vaginal polyps?

There are many reasons that may cause polyps to grow in the vagina of female friends. It is best to pay enough attention to it and try to choose a more professional hospital for treatment in the early stage. You should also pay attention to it afterwards to avoid recurrence of the disease. When the body shows the following obvious symptoms, this is most likely caused by polyps in the uterus and should be taken seriously.

Uterine polyps are a type of chronic endometritis. The main cause of the disease is the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, which causes local mucosal hyperplasia and other lesions in the cervical canal. The hyperplastic mucosa then gradually protrudes from the base to the external os of the cervix and forms polyps, which can easily lead to symptoms such as bleeding and are prone to recurrence.

Polyps are composed of endometrial tissue and often have altered menstrual cycles that are synchronized with the endometrium. A small number of polyp cells lack hormone receptors and only show proliferative changes, which are called non-functional polyps. The histological characteristics of uterine polyps diagnosed by curettage are that the tissue masses are surrounded by complete epithelium, the glands are arranged in disorder and may vary in size, and inflammatory polyps are accompanied by fibrous tissue hyperplasia and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration. Secretory endometrium is more easily identified when it is mixed with non-functional polyps.

Polyps with more smooth muscle tissue are called adenomyoma-type polyps. Excessive endometrial hyperplasia may lead to the formation of polyps, and some late secretory endometrium may show polyp-like changes. Comprehensive consideration must be given to the clinical and overall histological manifestations.

Uterine polyps are generally asymptomatic, and single polyps are less common. Patients with multiple and diffuse types often have menorrhagia, prolonged menstruation or irregular vaginal bleeding. Giant polyps or polyps protruding from the cervix often become infected and necrotized, causing irregular vaginal bleeding and foul-smelling bloody discharge. Women may be infertile or have postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. The early symptoms of this disease are as follows.

1. Tumor prolapse

If cervical polyps occur in unmarried young women, such patients may show symptoms of prolapse of a swelling at the vaginal opening.

2. Abnormal leucorrhea

When patients with cervical polyps experience increased vaginal discharge and blood in their vaginal discharge, the possibility of cervical polyps should be considered. This is because the cervix frequently contracts under the stimulation of inflammation, causing an increase in female secretions. The cervix is rich in blood vessels and has a thin epithelial layer. A small amount of bleeding may occur due to inflammation, so a small amount of blood may sometimes be seen in the leucorrhea.

3. Vaginal bleeding

The early symptoms of cervical polyps also include a small amount of bleeding, which is sometimes bright red in color. Some patients will also bleed after sexual intercourse, the amount of bleeding in some patients is even similar to menstruation, and some patients may also experience postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding is more common or may worsen in patients who are overworked or under too much stress.

When female friends find polyps in their vagina, in addition to timely treatment, they should also pay attention to their daily lives, try to get enough rest, and not put too much psychological pressure on themselves. During the treatment period, they should try to eat a light diet and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.
