How to prevent gastroesophageal reflux during pregnancy

How to prevent gastroesophageal reflux during pregnancy

In fact, during pregnancy, women should not neglect all kinds of health care, because at this time, no matter what diseases or problems the body is affected by, it may cause harm to the fetus in the belly invisibly, so pregnant women should pay attention and remind themselves to prevent the occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux problems.

There are many reasons why pregnant women are susceptible to this disease: first, due to the increase of progesterone in the body, the tension of the lower esophageal sphincter decreases, and the stomach contents are easily refluxed into the esophagus; second, the food intake of pregnant women increases greatly, and when too much food accumulates in the stomach and cannot be digested, reflux is likely to occur; third, as the fetus continues to grow, the intra-abdominal pressure of the pregnant woman gradually increases, and the stomach pressure also increases after being squeezed. When it exceeds the intra-esophageal pressure, reflux will occur; finally, as pregnant women have less activity, gastrointestinal motility weakens, and they are prone to constipation, which increases the risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Pregnant women should do the following to prevent gastroesophageal reflux: 1. Eat small meals frequently. 1. Eat 6 to 8 meals a day, don't eat too much each time; 2. Don't lie down in bed immediately after a meal, wait at least 2 hours before lying down, and raise the head of the bed appropriately when sleeping; 3. Avoid constipation; 4. Try not to eat chocolate, coffee, strong tea, etc.; 5. Exercise appropriately. Taking a walk after a meal is the best form of exercise, and you can walk for more than an hour every day.

The above is an introduction to some content and methods to help pregnant women prevent gastroesophageal reflux problems. I hope that every pregnant woman can pay more attention to the understanding of these common sense, so that the best treatment and solution can be achieved to reduce the adverse effects of gastroesophageal reflux problems on themselves and the fetus.
