Self-examination of female coccyx injury

Self-examination of female coccyx injury

Because the coccyx is relatively small and located under the skin without the protection of soft tissue, it is easy to be traumatized. When the coccyx is injured, it must be identified in time to see if there is any damage. So, what are the ways for women to self-check their coccyx injuries?

Pay attention to whether there is pain in the area after the coccyx is injured. In addition, check for swelling or bruising. Press gently with moderate force. If you feel pain in the skin but not in the bones, it is usually soft tissue injury. If you feel pain in the bones or a noticeable bone friction, you highly suspect a fracture and should go to the hospital immediately for an X-ray to confirm the diagnosis.

When the coccyx is fractured, it is usually necessary to stay in bed for a month before getting out of bed slowly to prevent injury to the coccyx.

How to quickly repair a coccyx injury

If the coccyx is injured but there is no fracture, the main treatment is conservative treatment, and avoid sitting for a long time. To protect the coccyx from compression and irritation, make a cushion with a hole dug at the coccyx, place it on chairs, sofas, or beds, and persist in treatment for more than 1-2 months before sitting normally. You can also add hot water sitz bath and acupuncture therapy.

When sitting down, avoid direct pressure on the coccyx and alternate between sitting sideways and leaning forward. If it is a trauma, you can apply ice (such as an ice pack or a medical ice pack wrapped in a cotton towel) several times a day in the first few days after the injury, each time for 15-20 minutes. If the pain is severe, you can take painkillers such as ibuprofen granules. Eat light food, pay attention to nutrition, avoid spicy food, eat more high-fiber food (such as vegetables or fiber supplements) to soften stool and avoid constipation. If your condition does not improve after a period of independence, it is best to see a doctor.

The effect of coccyx

The human spine can be divided into cervical vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae, intervertebral discs, sacrum, coccyx, etc. according to its location. The coccyx is located in the middle of the sacrum and is formed by the fusion of four (three to five) atrophic vertebrae to form the tail of the spine. In addition to the tendons of the sacrum and coccyx and other small tendons attached to it, part of the gluteus maximus is also attached to it, which is why coccyx patients feel discomfort in the buttocks for a while.
