How long does it take to detect pregnancy?

In fact, a healthy baby is often something a family looks forward to. Moreover, people at this time often just want to be healthy, so whether it is a boy or a girl, it is often very popular. At this time, people often want to conceive smoothly. Many people don't know how long it will take to find out whether they are pregnant. How long does it take to detect pregnancy?

Below we will explain to you how many days after sex you can detect pregnancy from the perspective of the entire process of conception.

Pregnancy is possible during ovulation

You won't get pregnant as soon as you have sex. You can only get pregnant when a woman produces an egg cell and combines it with a man's sperm. Generally speaking, a woman can only release an egg cell on one day a month, and ovulation occurs 14 days after the next menstruation. A woman's ovulation period can be delayed or advanced due to many factors such as her emotions and stress. Therefore, ovulation is possible in the five days before and four days after the ovulation period, which is called the ovulation period or the fertile period. This is why couples who want to get pregnant choose to have sex during the woman's ovulation period, while couples who want to prevent pregnancy should avoid this period of time.

The egg can survive for 1-2 days after ovulation

After the egg is released from the ovary, it can survive in the fallopian tube for 1-2 days, waiting for fertilization; the male's sperm can maintain its fertilization ability in the female's reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so it is easy to get pregnant through sexual intercourse a few days before and after the egg is released. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, the ovulation period. Because it is easy to get pregnant through sexual intercourse during the ovulation period, the ovulation period is also called the fertile period or the dangerous period.

1 day after fertilization

It takes a certain amount of time for the discharged egg to reach the ampulla of the fallopian tube, where it waits for the sperm, generally about 10 hours, which means that fertilization occurs within 12 hours after ovulation; the moment when the sperm and egg meet and fertilize is called fertilization, and the process of sperm and egg fertilization itself takes about 12 hours, which means that the whole fertilization process needs to be completed 24 hours after ovulation;

7-8 days after conception

It takes 7 to 8 days for the fertilized egg to swim from the abdominal wall of the fallopian tube to the uterus and implant in the mother's body, which is when it is called conception. Therefore, it takes at least 7-8 days from fertilization to pregnancy, but no more than 9-10 days, because if it exceeds 10 days, the corpus luteum will retreat, progesterone will withdraw, and menstruation will come again.

HCG is produced 7 days after fertilization

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein hormone produced in the body of pregnant women and exists in large quantities in the blood and urine of pregnant women. HCG begins to be secreted on the 6th day after the egg is fertilized and can usually be detected after 11 days. In early pregnancy, the secretion of HCG increases rapidly, doubling in about 1.7-2 days, while HCG cannot be detected in the urine of normal non-pregnant women. Therefore, detecting HCG in urine is a reliable indicator for determining pregnancy. If you are newly pregnant, it is more accurate to use morning urine. Generally, a check-up two weeks later can confirm whether you are pregnant.

After the sperm and egg meet, it can be shown in the HCG in the blood. So afterwards, just go to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital to check a blood HCG test.

Therefore, a blood HCG test can be performed about 9-11 days after having sex during the ovulation period to confirm whether you are pregnant. Generally, an early pregnancy test can be used to detect whether you are pregnant one week after your period is delayed. An early pregnancy test or B-ultrasound examination 35 days after conception can confirm whether you are pregnant. Return to Tencent homepage>>
