What causes difficulty urinating after childbirth?

Natural childbirth is a common way for mothers to give birth to their babies. Many mothers choose natural childbirth to give birth to our babies. Natural childbirth is also very healthy. But some mothers have difficulty urinating after natural childbirth. So what is the reason for difficulty urinating after natural childbirth? Is it serious? It is necessary for us to understand the reasons for difficulty in urination after normal delivery.

Timely urination after childbirth is an important part of postpartum recovery. Once urinary retention occurs, the swollen bladder may affect uterine contraction, which is not conducive to physical recovery. However, many new mothers face embarrassing and painful abnormal urination problems.

Many new mothers, especially first-time mothers, experience difficulty urinating for some time after delivery. Some people feel the urge to urinate but cannot, some can urinate but only drop by drop and cannot completely urinate, and some have a bladder full of urine but have no urge to urinate.

During pregnancy, the water in the expectant mother's body is mainly excreted through urination and sweating. In the late pregnancy, the enlarged uterus compresses the bladder, reducing the tension of the bladder muscles. Although the pressure of the uterus on the bladder is reduced after delivery, the tension of the bladder muscles decreases and the contraction function weakens, making it unable to expel urine. In addition, some new mothers underwent episiotomy during delivery. When urinating, urine irritates the wound and causes pain, leading to spasm of the urethral sphincter, which can also cause difficulty urinating after delivery.

The best way to prevent postpartum urination difficulties is to actively urinate 6 to 8 hours after delivery, and do not wait until you feel the urge to urinate. To increase your confidence, relax, and urinate calmly and naturally, paying special attention to the urine.

If you cannot urinate smoothly, you can apply a hot water bottle to the lower abdomen or use warm water to fumigate the vulva and area around the urethra, or you can use the sound of dripping water to induce urination.

After giving birth, a new mother's bladder will shift backwards. Although the shift is not much, it will increase the angle between the urethra and bladder, causing resistance to urination and causing difficulty in urination. _If the fetus takes too long to be delivered during labor, it will compress the bladder, causing its contraction to decrease, detrusor muscle weakness, and difficulty in urination.

The bladder capacity is too large during pregnancy, and after delivery, the woman cannot feel the increased urine inside and cannot feel the urge to urinate.

When a new mother gives birth, her perineum is torn, which irritates the wound when she urinates. The nerve reflex prevents urination, which leads to difficulty in urination. Another situation is that some new mothers are not used to urinating in bed and feel stressed. In fact, new mothers should try to urinate every 5 hours to prevent severe bladder swelling and urinary retention.

It turns out that the reason for difficulty in urinating after normal delivery is closely related to pregnancy and childbirth. So if you have difficulty urinating after normal delivery, we must learn to relieve the pressure on ourselves. If you feel uncomfortable, you must go to the hospital for treatment in time and follow the doctor's arrangements. Only in this way can we relieve the pain, recover better and have a good body.
