Changes in leucorrhea during the menstrual cycle

Changes in leucorrhea during the menstrual cycle

A normal woman will have the trouble of leucorrhea, because it is neither too much nor too little, and you don’t know when it will appear. Although it does not require as much caution as menstruation, the leucorrhea period cannot be ignored. Girls should pay more attention to the changes in leucorrhea during the menstrual cycle. How much do you know about leucorrhea? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Normal women feel different amounts of vaginal discharge during a menstrual cycle. When menstruation just ends, the amount of vaginal discharge is very small. As time goes by, the amount will gradually increase and the texture will become thinner and thinner. In the middle of two menstrual periods, that is, during the ovulation period, the amount of vaginal discharge is the largest and thinnest. Some people describe it as running clear nasal mucus. Later, the amount of vaginal discharge will decrease and become thicker. The above changes are physiological. Some people feel obvious, while others do not.

2. Abnormal leucorrhea is manifested by changes in color, quality and quantity:

①Purinary leucorrhea. Yellow in color and smelly, most commonly seen in Trichomonas vaginitis, followed by chronic cervicitis, and can also be seen in endometritis, uterine pyometra, vaginal foreign bodies, etc.

② Bean curd-like leucorrhea, also known as cheese-like, is often seen in candidal vaginitis accompanied by vulvar itching.

③ Bloody leucorrhea. If there is blood in the leucorrhea, be alert to cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, etc. Cervical polyps, submucous uterine fibroids, senile vaginitis, wearing an intrauterine device, etc. can also cause it.

④ Watery leucorrhea. If the amount is large and watery, endometrial cancer or fallopian tube cancer should be considered first. If abnormal leucorrhea is seen, the medical history should be learned in detail, and the leucorrhea should be checked for trichomonas and fungi. The cervix, uterus and pelvic cavity should be carefully examined. If necessary, cervical smear, biopsy or diagnostic curettage should be performed. Appropriate treatment should be given after the cause is determined.

3. The formation of leucorrhea is closely related to estrogen, so girls before puberty generally do not have leucorrhea. After puberty, the ovaries begin to develop and secrete estrogen to promote the development of reproductive organs, and leucorrhea begins to appear at this time. In each menstrual cycle, the secretion of estrogen varies from time to time, so the quality and quantity of leucorrhea also change. At this time, the amount of leucorrhea is small and thick. In the few days before and after menstruation, due to pelvic congestion, the vaginal exudate increases, and the leucorrhea is slightly more. Because it contains more exfoliated cells, the leucorrhea is turbid. In addition, after pregnancy, leucorrhea also increases during sexual excitement and after sexual intercourse.

After menopause, women's vagina becomes dry and has no leucorrhea due to the decline of ovarian function and lack of estrogen in the body.

Changes in vaginal discharge mean changes in the body. How much do you know now? How much do you understand? Can you learn more about some very strange phenomena in your body that are closely related to the inside of the body? Once you understand, you should check with your body, because this is the most important thing. I hope all ladies are healthy!
