It is more common in women aged 30-45, but young patients in their 20s are also not uncommon, especially female athletes and ballet dancers. It is reported that the incidence of infertility in patients with endometriosis is more than 30%. One-third or nearly half of women with unexplained infertility have endometriosis, and the chance of infertility in such patients is 20 times that of those without endometriosis.

Endometriosis occurs when endometrial tissue leaves its normal location in the uterine cavity and grows and develops in any other part of the human body. The causes are rather complicated. For example, artificial abortion, induced labor, postoperative cervical stenosis or occlusion, or retroversion and retroflexion of the uterus that obstruct the outflow of menstrual blood, causing endometrial fragments to flow back with menstrual blood and implant in multiple parts of the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tubes, all of which can lead to the disease. This then causes dysmenorrhea and infertility. Therefore, not performing or performing fewer artificial abortions and induced labor surgeries, and correcting posterior uterine displacement in a timely manner can prevent and reduce its occurrence. In addition, adolescent girls should get adequate rest during menstruation and avoid strenuous exercise to prevent the occurrence of endometriosis.
