A very detailed introduction to the whole process of contraception

IUD insertion is the most commonly used long-term contraceptive measure for women of childbearing age in my country. Often an IUD can be left in the body for more than ten years. IUD insertion itself is a minor operation, placing a foreign object in the uterine cavity, and it takes some time for the body to adapt. Below is the entire process of a netizen’s IUD insertion.

I have asked many colleagues and friends who have had IUDs before, and they all had different opinions. After considering for a long time, I still decided to have an IUD. It seems that it is a necessary step for every woman. On the fifth day after my period ended this month, I went to the First Hospital of the city. Before, my friends all told me to go to the Maternal and Child Health Center or the Family Planning Commission, saying that the price was low and it would only cost twenty or thirty yuan to insert an IUD. In fact, I think that safety is the first priority and the price is not important. Women should take care of their bodies. Only with a good body can you have everything. Besides, the Municipal Hospital is the best hospital in the city. The types of IUDs should be more and newer than those in the Maternal and Child Health Center and Family Planning Commission!

The doctor who saw me was a very, very young female doctor, who might have been assigned there after graduating from university. I kept wondering if she knew how to insert the IUD... Oh, it turned out that she was just going to take a sample of my leucorrhea and take a rough look at the condition of my cervix. The IUD had to be inserted in the operating room. I took the leucorrhea smear to the laboratory and the result came out in about 2 minutes. Everything was normal and the IUD could be inserted. But then there was still endless waiting. After more than an hour, it was finally my turn. The armpit temperature was normal. The doctor told me to empty my bladder and put on slippers before entering the operating room. I was extremely nervous, especially when I saw the painful expression of a girl who was having an abortion and the special-shaped bed. My heart started beating fast! I had heard from a friend that it was extremely painful to have an IUD inserted, and I was even more nervous...

Lying on the operating table, I felt like a lamb to be slaughtered. First, I had the routine perineum rinsed twice, and then covered with a disposable surgical towel. The only sound I could hear was the clinking of instruments as the doctor took them out. While the doctor was operating, he introduced the various models and prices of IUDs. Some cost dozens of yuan, some cost more than a hundred yuan, and the most expensive was the 280 yuan Genie ring. I said, "Then give me the 280 yuan one."

Then I felt a cold thing stuffed into my lower body. This should be the vaginal speculum, which is used to dilate the vagina and expose the cervix. It was very uncomfortable, and I felt swollen and numb, but no pain. I saw the doctor dip a long cotton swab in some yellow stuff, which should be iodine, and put it in to disinfect it. I also felt uncomfortable during the process. If the doctor used a lot of force when disinfecting, it would be a little painful. Later, it felt like taking a probe-like thing, prying open the cervix and inserting it into the uterus. This time it was painful, but still bearable. This step should be to measure the size of the uterus, because after a while the doctor told me that the uterus is a little small, only 6.5 cm, and a small one should be enough. Although the cervix looks very smooth, after dilation, I found that there was inflammation on the cervical canal. Because the Jinnie ring has a tail thread, they are afraid that it will irritate the inflamed cervical canal over time.

So she still didn't recommend me to get the Genie Ring. She recommended another Anshu Ring, which looks a bit like a Y, and contains hemostatic and anti-inflammatory drugs. It has no tail thread and costs 175 yuan. I agreed. The doctor was very efficient. It took only two or three minutes from the time I agreed to have the Anshu Ring inserted to the time the Ring was put in. She said it was ok. I was a little confused and didn't know how it was put in. Haha, it wasn't as painful as my friend said. There was pain and discomfort, but it was bearable. It only lasted a few minutes or seconds. Compared with the pain of an abortion, the pain from having the Ring inserted was very light.

The whole process of inserting the IUD took about 5-6 minutes. Because my cervix was a little tight due to caesarean section, I had to dilate it twice. Normally, it takes about 3-4 minutes to insert an IUD. It's fast, right? Haha~ The cost of this IUD insertion: IUD fee 175 + surgery fee, nursing fee, medicine fee 103 + examination fee 15 = 293 yuan.

Today is the third day after the IUD was inserted. I don't feel any discomfort. There was only a little bleeding on the first day, and then it slowly turned into a discharge with a little blood. I think the IUD is not as scary as the legend says.

The legendary disadvantages of the ring:

1. Let it go and it will fall. Either the IUD you choose is too small, or your cervix is loose.

2. Lower back pain and irregular menstruation occur.

Some people, in order to save trouble, do not do a leucorrhea check before the insertion and go straight to the insertion. The already inflamed cervix is further stimulated by foreign objects, aggravating the inflammation. But it may also be related to the physical differences of each person. Maybe it is suitable for some people, but not for others!
