Seven tips to help women get rid of menstrual odor

Why is it easy for menstruation to produce odor? The main reason why menstruation produces odor is because it is mixed with blood, secretions from the uterine membrane and sebaceous glands, and sweat, so there is a more obvious odor. The best way to improve this situation is to improve your own hygiene first.

1. Change sanitary napkins frequently

Many people like to wrap themselves tightly during menstruation, but this is like adding fuel to the fire, which will only increase sweat penetration and sweat odor. Therefore, during menstruation, you should use cotton underwear and change sanitary napkins as often as possible, and no more than 4 hours at a time, to reduce the contact between the skin and wet sanitary napkins. When the menstrual blood volume is heavy, the frequency of changing sanitary napkins should be increased accordingly.

When using sanitary napkins, remember:

(1) Change every two hours;

(2) Use medicated sanitary napkins with caution to prevent allergies;

(3) Be sure to wash your hands before opening the sanitary napkin;

(4) Sanitary napkins are placed in the bathroom;

(5) It is easy to breed mold and contaminate sanitary napkins.

2. Clean the genitals and keep them healthy

Female friends should frequently perform local cleaning, and clean the lower body with clean water or a wet towel at least twice a day, and the situation will be effectively improved.

3. Dress appropriately and keep the room ventilated

Many women, especially young women, like to wear tight clothes to highlight their figures. Even during their menstrual period, they often like to wrap themselves tightly without ventilation. In fact, doing so is like adding fuel to the fire, which will only increase sweat penetration and sweat odor. Therefore, during menstruation, you should use cotton underwear and wear loose clothes to ensure ventilation.

4. Take a bath during menstruation

Some female friends are afraid to take a bath during their menstrual period in order to prevent menstrual infection. In fact, this is an incorrect idea. During menstruation, women should also pay attention to taking a bath. If they do not take a bath for more than two days, there will inevitably be an odor of menstrual blood. Of course, in the summer it may not be the smell of menstrual blood, but it may be your own body odor. However, you should be careful when taking a bath during menstruation. Do not use a bathtub. Make sure to shower instead, which can reduce the risk of infection.

5. Use special detergent to remove odor

When the temperature is high, bacteria in the private parts are easy to multiply, so you can use special cleanser or wet wipes to gently wipe it. But it should not be used frequently, as the user's ability to clean the private parts will be weakened. It can only be used when the smell is strong and before the end of menstruation.

6. Use olive oil to remove dirt and odor

Use a cotton swab containing olive oil or baby oil to soak the dirt attached to the labia majora and minora twice a day. Never disinfect your private parts randomly. The private mucosa is very sensitive, and using highly irritating substances such as disinfectants will cause inflammation. Using running water in the shower is the cleanest and safest method. Pay attention to the direction of washing, from front to back.

7. Relax and cover up the odor

Menstrual blood is a mixture of endometrium, blood, and endometrial secretions, so it has a unique smell that is different from ordinary blood. None of these symptoms indicate a disease. This is a smell that every woman has, and it won't be noticed by people around you, so there is no need to feel unnecessary tension or worry.

Unusual odor after menstruation

Leucorrhea is the secretion of the vagina and cervix. Under normal circumstances, the amount is very small, transparent, shiny, sticky, and odorless. However, if it stays in the vagina for too long, it may be slightly yellow, and it increases before menstruation, during ovulation, and during pregnancy. The leucorrhea during ovulation is egg white-like. The odor after menstruation is mostly caused by abnormal leucorrhea. If the leucorrhea increases, turns yellow, and has an odor, it is mostly a clinical manifestation of vaginitis and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Generally speaking, the odor after menstruation is caused by not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation, or even having sex during menstruation, which may lead to gynecological inflammation. Therefore, the vulva should be kept clean during menstruation, and the vulva should be wiped with warm water every night. It is not suitable to take a tub bath or a sitz bath, but a shower is better. Sanitary napkins and paper should be soft, clean and breathable, and underwear should be changed frequently to reduce the irritation of blood stains to the vulva and inner thighs. After defecation, wipe from front to back to avoid bringing dirt into the vagina and causing vaginitis or even pelvic inflammatory disease.
