Does taking Risperidone affect fertility?

We all have a habit for things that are suitable for us, that is, dependence. Take taking medicine as an example. Some patients finally choose the medicine that is really suitable for them to treat the symptoms, so they take it for a long time subconsciously. So, does taking risperidone affect fertility? Can I take Risperidone tablets frequently? Is it harmful to the human body?

Does taking Risperidone affect pregnancy?

Risperidone tablets of Risperidone are benzimidazole compounds. Their specific ingredient, risperidone, has a high affinity with 5-HT2 protein kinase of 5-5-hydroxytryptamine and D2 protein kinase of dopamine, and can improve the positive symptoms of schizophrenia. Pregnant women are a group that is more sensitive to drug use. Although risperidone has no direct toxic side effects on reproduction, pregnant women should not take this product unless the benefits significantly outweigh the possible risks. Otherwise, the drug can indirectly affect the test tube embryo through the pregnant mother's endocrine and metabolism, and can directly affect the fetus through the placental barrier, which will bring unpredictable risks to the fetus. If necessary, be sure to follow the doctor's advice.

Risperidone tablets are a new generation of antipsychotic drugs, which are used clinically to treat subacute and chronic schizophrenia and various other diseases associated with psychotic symptoms. Risperidone can be completely digested and absorbed after oral administration. The main metabolite in the body is 9-hydroxyrisperidone. This metabolite has similar medicinal value to risperidone, and the two together constitute the specific antipsychotic component. The actual effect is very good.

But all medicines should not be taken for a long time. It is best to take the medicine under the guidance of a doctor. So is it harmful to the human body to eat it frequently? The following side effects may occur:

1. People with cardiovascular diseases (such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, transmission abnormalities, dehydration, excessive blood loss and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases) should use it with caution, starting with a small dosage and gradually increasing the dosage (see Instructions for Use and Dosage).

2. Because risperidone tablets have α-protein kinase blocking specificity, (postural) hypotension may occur in the early stage of drug use and when the dosage rate is too fast. At this time, dose reduction should be considered.

3. Similar to other drugs with dopamine receptor antagonist properties, it causes tardive dyskinesia, which is characterized by regular, involuntary movements, mainly on the tongue and face. If tardive dyskinesia occurs, all antipsychotics should be discontinued.

4. Existing reports emphasize that taking classic anti-spermia drugs can cause a malignant symptom cluster characterized by high fever, muscle rigidity, tremors, changes in consciousness and increased levels of creatine phosphokinase. All antipsychotic drugs, including risperidone tablets, should be discontinued at this time.

5. Patients with Parkinson's syndrome should use risperidone tablets with caution, because in theory the drug may cause the disease to become more severe.

6. Classic antipsychotics will reduce the threshold for epilepsy, so patients with epilepsy should still use risperidone tablets with caution.

7. Patients taking risperidone tablets should avoid eating too much to prevent weight gain.

8. Due to the effect of risperidone tablets on the central nervous system, caution should be exercised when taking it at the same time as other drugs that act on the central nervous system.

9. Risperidone tablets have an impact on activities that require vigilance. Therefore, patients are advised not to drive or operate equipment until their sensitivity to the drug is known.
